A Nickelodeon Classic Gets New Streaming Home as Revival Rumors Heat Up

I’ve noticed a popular old Nickelodeon show is about to move to a new streaming service, and it’s happening right as people are starting to talk about a possible reboot. As we get closer to the end of 2025, all the streaming services are going to be shuffling things around. Basically, licensing agreements change at the start of the new year, which means shows get added and removed. Paramount+ is definitely going to be affected, but at least they’re adding one big title to their library soon.

Paramount+ announced its January 2026 schedule of new shows and movies, with a spotlight on the return of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. The popular Nickelodeon film, originally released in 2001, will be available on the streaming service starting January 1st. Given the success of the movie and its spin-offs, rumors are circulating about a possible sequel 25 years later, making now a great time to revisit the original.

You Need to Watch Jimmy Neutron

While you can currently watch all three seasons of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius on Paramount+, the original movie isn’t available there. Released in theaters in 2001, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius first introduced viewers to the young genius and his friends, who had to rescue their parents from aliens. The movie was so popular with Nickelodeon audiences that it naturally led to the creation of the TV series.

The show was a big hit, lasting three seasons and even spawning a spin-off called Planet Sheen. Earlier this year, rumors surfaced about a potential sequel to Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, but it appeared the original creators weren’t involved. Sadly, recent events may make it difficult to revive the franchise now.

Is It Possible to Bring Back Jimmy Neutron?

Jeff Garcia, the voice of Sheen in the movie and TV series, recently passed away. He was a key part of the show, and it would feel strange to continue Jimmy Neutron without him. While Nickelodeon could bring the series back with a new sequel or revival and recast the voices, longtime fans would likely notice the change, and that might not be the best approach.
