Next month, Netflix is expected to release Goat, a new animated movie starring Aaron Pierre and David Harbour. The animation is being handled by the studio behind the critically acclaimed Spider-Verse films and Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters.
Goat is nearing its Netflix streaming date
As a big movie fan, I just heard some exciting news! Apparently, Netflix is getting the animated film Goat sometime in May 2026. While Netflix hasn’t officially said when next month it’ll drop, a source over at What’s on Netflix is pretty confident it’ll be happening very soon. I’m definitely adding it to my watchlist!
The movie is set in a world where animals act like humans. It follows Will Harris, a young goat with dreams of playing roarball – a fast-paced sport that’s a mix of basketball, soccer, and rugby – for the Vineland Thorns. After a video of him playing in a local game becomes popular online, he gets the chance to join the team. But once he arrives, he finds that his hero, Jett Fillmore, isn’t very welcoming.
Tyree Dillihay directed the film, which was written by Nicolas Curcio and Peter Chiarelli. According to reports, executive producer Fonda Snyder came up with the idea for the film after reading a chapter called “Farm Team” from Chris Tougas’s unfinished book, Funky Dunks (as noted by AWN). Snyder also shared that her son suggested involving Stephen Curry, calling him “the greatest of all time in real life!”
NBA star Stephen Curry became a co-producer and also voiced the character Lenny Williamson. The film also features Aaron Pierre as Mane, David Harbour as Archie, Caleb McLaughlin from Stranger Things as Will, Gabrielle Union as Jett, Jelly Roll as Grizz, Patton Oswalt as Dennis, and Dwyane Wade as Rosette, along with other talented voice actors.
Sony Pictures Imageworks created the animation for Goat. They’re also known for their work on popular movies like The Polar Express, the Hotel Transylvania series, the Spider-Verse films, and KPop Demon Hunters, as well as numerous other projects.
The movie came out on February 13, 2026, and critics generally liked it. It earned an 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and a 93% audience score. Made with a budget of $80 to $90 million, the film grossed $188.3 million worldwide in theaters.
