Agatha Christie is a hugely popular author, known for writing many books and creating famous detectives like Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. Her stories have been translated into languages around the world and made into numerous TV shows and films. This weekend, US viewers can watch some of these adaptations without cost.
As a huge mystery fan, I’m excited to share that PBS Drama FAST Channel on Prime Video is having an Agatha Christie weekend! It started with Partners in Crime on Friday, then moved on to other stories Saturday, and now, this Sunday, March 29th, it’s all about Miss Marple! They’re streaming several adaptations starring the wonderful Jane Marple for free – a perfect marathon for any mystery lover like me.
PBS Will Air Miss Marple Adaptations on Sunday
According to Agatha Christie’s official Instagram, a free drama marathon started on PBS on Friday with Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime. This 1983 series featured Francesca Annis and James Warwick as the adventurous couple, Prudence ‘Tuppence’ and Tommy Beresford. The series is based on the Tommy and Tuppence book series by Agatha Christie.
This past Saturday, PSB Drama offered a free broadcast of Season 2 of Agatha Christie’s Poirot, originally released in 1990. The season included a full-length adaptation of Christie’s novel, Peril at End House, starring
The episode featured Polly Walker, Carol MacReady, Paul Geoffrey, and David Suchet, and it kicked off the season.
On Sunday, March 29th, PBS Drama will offer free streaming of several Agatha Christie’s Marple mysteries. According to Agatha Christie’s Instagram page, the available episodes will include “4.50 from Paddington,” “A Murder Is Announced,” and “The Moving Finger” featuring Geraldine McEwan as Miss Marple, along with “A Pocket Full Of Rye” starring Julia McKenzie in the role.
Miss Marple Stars in 12 Agatha Christie Novels
Agatha Christie created many memorable detectives, including Hercule Poirot, who is featured in 39 novels and numerous short stories. However, her gentle, elderly character, Miss Jane Marple, from the village of St. Mary Mead, also appears in 12 novels and a wealth of short stories. Miss Marple’s first appearance was in a short story called “The Tuesday Night Club.”
Miss Marple first appeared as the lead investigator in her own mystery, The Murder at the Vicarage. Unlike Hercule Poirot, who travels the world solving crimes, Miss Marple usually solves cases in her own village. People often underestimate her because she’s an unmarried woman, and even the police dismiss her at first – until she surprises them with her cleverness.
Miss Marple is a famous detective created by Agatha Christie, and many people love her. If you’re a fan of Christie’s mysteries – or just enjoy a good crime drama – PBS Drama is a great place to watch these stories, either for the first time or to revisit an old favorite this weekend.
In the US, you can watch an Agatha Christie marathon on the PBS Drama FAST Channel through Prime Video. It concludes on Sunday, March 29th, with a showing of all the episodes of Agatha Christie’s Marple.
