Life Is Strange: Reunion is getting a lot of positive attention, currently holding an 85 score on Metacritic – a promising sign considering recent games in the series haven’t performed as well.
However, several websites have already completed their coverage and published reviews. Initial reactions to this final chapter for Max and Chloe are overwhelmingly positive.
I was honestly really surprised by this new game! After the last one, Double Exposure, felt a little stuck, and with everyone talking about how it would handle the ending of the first game, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s a really pleasant surprise to see how they pulled it off!
It seems like the studio may have nailed this one, though. Here’s the consensus so far:
Game Rant – 9/10
Throughout Life is Strange: Reunion, from beginning to end, a central question subtly shapes every interaction, quiet moment, and connection between characters. The way Max and Chloe deal with their history, current struggles, and uncertain future embodies this question. By the game’s conclusion, it becomes clear the answer wasn’t meant to be explicitly stated, but rather experienced, comprehended, and, ultimately, embraced – one way or another.
DualShockers – 8.5/10
Life is Strange: Reunion is a touching and genuine farewell to Max and Chloe, capturing what made their story so special. While it has some flaws – like technical issues, less-developed supporting characters, and a sense that your choices don’t always matter – it succeeds where it counts most. The mystery is engaging, full of unexpected twists, and the emotional core of the story finally feels truly honest. This isn’t about being better than the original game; it’s about finding peace with what happened. And despite the challenges, the developers at Deck Nine have delivered a satisfying conclusion. For longtime fans, it offers a sense of closure that stays with you long after the game ends, like a quiet goodbye.
Game8 – 8.4/10
Life is Strange: Reunion is a touching and satisfying conclusion for fans of the series. It’s a story rich with emotion and complex characters, and paying close attention to the details really enhances the experience. Although the gameplay isn’t groundbreaking and there are some minor technical issues, the strong story, beautiful sound design, and intimate moments make it worthwhile. It’s not perfect, but Reunion provides a heartfelt goodbye to Max and Chloe.
