The first trailer is out for Runner, an upcoming action thriller starring Alan Ritchson. Many fans are noting his performance seems similar to his popular role as Jack Reacher in his previous Prime Video series.
The first trailer for Alan Ritchson’s upcoming movie, Runner, has been revealed at CinemaCon 2026, offering audiences a sneak peek at the film.
Runner follows a former soldier racing against time to deliver a vital organ for a child in need. When a dangerous cartel targets him, he must battle numerous challenges to complete his mission and save a life.
Check out the Runner trailer below:
The trailer opens with Ben Bishop, played by Owen Wilson, bringing an organ to Hank Malone (Jack Ritchson). He explains it’s a new liver for a very sick little girl, and that she needs it today to survive. He stresses the urgency, saying she won’t make it without the transplant.
As Hank wonders how much a human organ might fetch on the black market—potentially up to $1 million, he estimates—a group of masked men suddenly appears behind them. They quickly surround Hank and Ben’s car, all armed with guns.
Hank races away to escape the criminals, and the rest of the trailer is filled with action – including intense fights, thrilling car chases, and huge explosions – as he fights to protect himself.
Hank then speaks on the phone, likely to the young girl or her mother, reassuring them, “We won’t let anything stop us from reaching you.” The trailer concludes with Hank at the hospital, determinedly trying one last time to save the liver, his hand resting on the case containing it.
Rodrigo Santoro, Leila George, Kate Box, Peta Sergeant, Geraldine Hakewill, Cecilia Toussaint, and Scarlett Crabtree all appear alongside Ritchson and Wilson.
Scott Waugh, the director of Expend4bles, is now bringing us Runner. He describes it as a high-energy film with both exciting action and a meaningful story, saying audiences are eager for something that’s both thrilling and uplifting. He’s working on this project with Angel Studios.
Waugh explained that the movie demonstrates that true courage means facing danger head-on when someone’s life is at stake, rather than avoiding it.
Working with Angel is incredibly exciting. Their film, Runner, delivers exactly what audiences want: thrilling action, genuine emotion, and a hopeful story. It’s a film about courage – about facing danger head-on when someone’s life is at stake, rather than running away.
Alan Ritchson is famous for starring as Jack Reacher in the Prime Video series Reacher, which is based on Lee Child’s popular books. The show has received very positive reviews, with a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes. After season three came out in early 2025, filming for season four began later that year and is now being finished up.
Alan Ritchson has appeared in a variety of popular movies and TV shows, including Smallville, Titans, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fast X, and War Machine, which is currently available on Netflix.
Runner will be released in theaters on Friday, September 11, 2026.
