Ali Wong and Bill Hader won’t be laughing into the sunset together.

The comedians have broken up after more than two years of dating, multiple outlets reported Jan. 7.

Bill and Ali have broken up almost a year after rumors began swirling that their relationship was troubled. These rumors started when Ali attended the 2025 Golden Globes without Bill and went on to win an award for Best Stand-Up Comedy Performance, notably without mentioning him in her acceptance speech.

Bill and Ali weren’t avoiding the public eye. According to a representative who spoke to People magazine on January 10th, Bill couldn’t attend the Golden Globes because a previous eye problem had worsened, and his doctor advised him to rest. They confirmed that Bill and Ali are still together.

Bill and Ali started dating in 2022, shortly after Ali separated from her husband, Justin Hakuta, with whom she has two children. They briefly stopped dating but got back together in April 2023.

Bill and Ali have always been private about their relationship, but Ali once shared the story of how Bill, who has three daughters with his former wife Maggie Carey, made his move after her divorce.

Ali shared a story from her May 2024 Netflix Is a Joke Fest set, as reported by Rolling Stone. She described getting a call from someone she’d briefly met at a party. He’d gotten her number through a friend and, after hearing about her divorce, confessed he’d had a long-time crush on her. He even admitted he’d told his best friend years ago that she was his ‘dream girl’ and asked her out.

However, the Always Be My Maybe star had recently signed up for a paid dating app.

Ali remembered telling the person, ‘I just spent $25, so I need to make sure I get what I paid for. You seem great, but I need to get my money’s worth.’

Bill didn’t give up on trying to win Ali over, and when she took a trip to Europe soon after, he had flowers delivered to each of her hotels. While it was a sweet gesture, Ali confessed that some of her male friends found it a bit much.
