Alice and Steve ending explained

The season finale of Alice and Steve concludes with a dramatic cliffhanger, leaving both main characters facing a dangerous and uncertain fate.

Even though Alice tried repeatedly to interfere, Steve and Izzy continued to fall in love and unexpectedly got married.

Izzy’s relationship with Steve heats up when she finds out she’s expecting a baby, and she first assumes Steve is the father. However, their happiness is short-lived as they soon discover the baby actually belongs to her former boyfriend, Yannis.

Steve wants to continue playing a role, especially after seeing how Daniel lovingly raised Izzy as if she were his own daughter. Their upcoming wedding is meant to provide a stable future, and plans are moving forward quickly.

However, it isn’t long before cracks in the foundations start to show.

Steve and Izzy are struggling to trust each other because Steve says Alice pulled a gun on him while they were shooting recreationally the night before the wedding.

Even though Izzy has caused a lot of trouble lately, she’s shocked by her mother’s careless behavior and starts to wonder if she really understands Steve, and if she should trust him so completely.

Izzy, troubled by her thoughts, told Yannis about the wedding, which led to him unexpectedly showing up at dinner that night. It was obvious she still had feelings for him, despite his distant behavior.

Upset by the arrival of a new romantic competitor and a heated argument during dinner, Steve retreats to his room. He puts on headphones and turns up the music to block out the party happening below.

Dom (Tyrese Eaton-Dyce) is upset about his family’s struggles and tries to escape his worries by having fun with his new girlfriend, Rome (Eilidh Fisher). However, even their harmless romance quickly takes a dangerous turn.

A fire broke out at the charming old building after a candle was accidentally knocked over, forcing everyone to evacuate. Everyone, that is, except for Steve.

The groom was so engrossed in his music that he didn’t notice everyone gathering, and he’s not at the meeting spot. It’s significant that Alice was the one who realized he was missing, not Izzy.

Alice bravely runs back into the fire to save Steve, but they both get stuck in his room as the flames close in.

Having exhausted all other possibilities, they climbed out a window and onto the roof, but were still faced with a dangerous situation. They could either stay on the collapsing building and accept whatever happened, or risk jumping to the roof of the next building over.

They went with the riskier plan, but the show cuts to a still image just as they jump, leaving their fate uncertain.

The final episode of Alice & Steve leaves viewers wondering: is it a setup for another season, or is it intentionally open-ended like the controversial finales of shows such as The Sopranos? We spoke with the show’s writer and creator, Sophie Goodhart, to find out.

Will Alice and Steve’s big cliffhanger be resolved?

Sophie Goodhart, the creator of ‘Alice and Steve,’ has shared that she knows how the story continues after its surprising ending and hopes to explore it further in a second season.

She told TopMob that the show’s renewal isn’t guaranteed, and will largely depend on its viewership numbers – as is typical in the competitive world of streaming.

The show has a lot going for it – it’s received good reviews, generated excitement at the Canneseries festival, and its trailer has been viewed millions of times. However, it’s still uncertain if this initial enthusiasm will translate into strong viewership numbers.

Goodhart also jokingly admitted that if the show isn’t a hit, the ending will be open to interpretation. He then playfully urged viewers to watch, hoping to boost his earnings!

Alice and Steve is available to stream on Disney+. Sign-up to Disney+ from £5.99 a month.
