Alien: Earth ending explained: Did Wendy and the Lost Boys escape Neverland?

In explosive season finale, Alien: Earth ended with a full-blown mutiny and a surprising alliance.

After being unable to leave Neverland, Sydney Chandler, as Wendy, and the remaining hybrid children found themselves in a dangerous and violent game of hide-and-seek, with Wendy taking the lead.

Episode 8, appropriately named ‘The Real Monsters’, ended with a violent confrontation. The hybrids, who had been imprisoned by Boy Kavalier, fought back against the ambitious young genius and the surrounding Prodigy soldiers.

The series ended with many deaths, surprising plot twists, and a dramatic cliffhanger, leaving viewers with plenty to think about.

Did Wendy and the Lost Boys escape Neverland?

Wendy and the Lost Boys haven’t escaped yet and are still being held on Prodigy’s island. They tried to flee with Nibs and Joe, but were captured and put back in a holding cell at the beginning of the episode.

The Prodigy soldiers captured the Lost Boys and locked them up under Boy Kavalier, who kept watch on them using Atom Eins. Joe was held in a different cell with a cyborg named Morrow. Meanwhile, the escaped alien creature remained hidden in the jungle, waiting for Wendy’s orders and nearly attacking Dame Sylvia.

While the hybrid creatures were talking in their holding cell, Wendy realized she was in control. She could access and manipulate Prodigy’s systems and even communicate with the xenomorph. When Nibs glumly said they were practically invisible, Wendy had an idea: they would use her powers to terrorize their enemies. She cut off Boy Kavalier’s communications and security cameras, tormented Dame Sylvia with embarrassing old footage of the hybrid experiments, and called upon the xenomorph to join the fray.

Boy Kavalier, determined to control his creations, shockingly revealed to Wendy and the Lost Boys that his father struggled with alcoholism. Earlier, at just six years old, the incredibly gifted Boy had built his first synthesizer. He then used it in a disturbing act to end his father’s life, and afterwards, falsely presented the synth *as* his father.

After Wendy breaks into the network and unlocks the holding cells, releasing the hybrids along with Joe and Morrow, Boy Kavalier has to fall back. Wendy then playfully suggests the hybrids hunt down their opponents – including Dame Sylvia, Atom Eins, Boy Kavalier, Morrow, and Kirsh – as a game of hide and seek.

Did Joe betray Wendy?

Even though Wendy was very upset about Joe shooting Nibs in episode 7, the siblings ultimately remained supportive of each other in the final episode.

As soon as Wendy let Joe out of his cell, Atom led him to a room, telling him that Wendy was inside.

When Joe arrived, he quickly discovered Atom had deliberately locked him in a room with the Ocellus, intending for the creature to take over his body. Just as the Ocellus tried to enter him, Wendy burst in, rescuing Joe and battling Atom. As Atom attacked Wendy, she used the network to immobilize him.

Joe explained to Wendy that he didn’t want anyone else to get hurt, and that he only shot Nibs to protect a friend and teammate. Wendy admitted she was on the side of the aliens, appreciating their honesty, and revealed that one of them was currently searching for Boy Kavalier.

Once the siblings had reconciled, they worked together to find Boy Kavalier as he tried to flee at the airfield. Wendy and Joe watched from a distance as the xenomorph appeared, eliminating the last of the Prodigy soldiers but strangely sparing Boy Kavalier.

What happened to Boy Kavalier?

Once their game of hide and seek was over, the hybrids regained control. A fierce fight between Morris and Kirsh left both of them badly hurt, allowing Smee and Slightly to restrain them and lock them in cell one.

Nibs also took Dame Sylvia into custody, while Curly disabled the last of the Prodigy soldiers. Meanwhile, Wendy and Joe successfully captured and imprisoned Boy Kavalier and Atom.

Having lured all their opponents into the same location, Wendy releases the xenomorph into the containment area. When Curly asks about their plan, Wendy declares to her fellow hybrids, ‘Now we take over!’ The episode then ends. Unbeknownst to them, however, a fleet of Yutani soldiers is already traveling to Neverland.

The show’s biggest unanswered questions

Although Wendy and the Lost Boys won in Alien: Earth, the story concluded with a few unresolved questions for viewers.

Honestly, I’m really worried about what happened to Arthur. Seeing him like that, with that… thing, the Ocellus, taking over his body right after it tried to get to Joe, was just awful. Now that the alien’s moved into Arthur’s body, who knows what terrible things are going to happen next? It’s genuinely frightening.

We were kept wondering if Wendy and her crew would eliminate their opponents or simply take them prisoner. However, even that question feels small, as a much larger threat is emerging: Yutani ships are trying to capture the hybrids for their own purposes.
