FX and Disney have renewed the show Alien for a second season, and have also signed a new deal with its creator, Noah Hawley.
Josh Hawley is continuing his work with Disney and its networks, beginning with the upcoming second season of a science fiction show, as revealed on Tuesday, November 11th.
Deadline reports that Hawley’s new overall deal is somewhere in the nine-figure range.
The second season of the show will be filmed in London instead of Thailand, and production is scheduled to begin in 2026.
FX Chairman John Landgraf said they’ve greatly enjoyed working with Noah for over ten years on many of their most successful shows, and they’re excited to continue their collaboration for years to come.
I’m constantly amazed by Noah’s creativity. He just keeps coming up with incredibly original stories, and what really sets him apart is that he can not only write them, but also direct and produce them, bringing them to life in a truly vibrant way. It’s really something special.
We’re thrilled to start working on the next season of Alien: Earth, and we have some other really promising projects in the works too.

The first-ever television series based on the Alien franchise, simply titled ‘Alien,’ debuted in August and received overwhelmingly positive reviews.
This series takes place two years before the events of the first Alien movie. It follows a group of children with life-threatening illnesses whose minds are placed into strong, adult-like artificial bodies, and who are then tasked with confronting a massive planetary danger.
Eric Schrier, head of Disney Television Studios, shared that he recognized Noah’s exceptional talent while they collaborated on Fargo at FX. He’s been impressed by Noah’s success with other critically acclaimed shows and is thrilled to continue their working relationship, now expanding it to include all of Disney Entertainment Television.
Hawley expressed his excitement about the expanded agreement, noting it creates fresh possibilities throughout Disney Entertainment Television. He highlighted FX’s longstanding commitment to compelling, character-focused narratives, recalling how they’ve consistently encouraged his creative vision and willingness to take risks with shows like Fargo. He’s thankful to keep developing the story of Alien: Earth with the existing team as they move forward.
The first season of the show featured a talented cast including Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.
You can now stream season 1 of Alien: Earth on Disney+. A Disney+ subscription costs £4.99 per month or £89.90 for the year.
