Alien Earth Just Confirmed 3 Robot Types: Synth, Cyborgs and Hybrids Explained

As a die-hard Alien fan, let me tell you I’m beyond excited about the new Hulu show! It’s setting sail on uncharted waters by delving into the Alien universe right here on Earth, two years before the chilling events of the first movie. This innovative series promises to bring a whole new species of aliens and an assortment of humanoid robots into our living rooms. While we’re well acquainted with the spine-tingling Xenomorphs, this sci-fi saga has also given us a host of intriguing artificial humans throughout its different instalments.

The series Alien: Earth begins by introducing its diverse group of robots, titled “Three Facets of Tomorrow’s Immortality,” which includes Synths, Cyborgs, and Hybrids. These advanced technologies will determine the dominance among five powerful corporations such as Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold, who are vying to control the universe. Although all three robotic types are introduced in the first episode of Alien: Earth, their unique characteristics might not be immediately apparent to viewers.

The latest series, titled “Alien: Earth,” hails from the creative mind of Noah Hawley, known for his work on shows like “Fargo” and “Legion.” The star-studded cast includes Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, and Alex Lawther. This new installment serves as a continuation of the franchise, following 2024’s “Alien: Romulus.” Premiering on August 12, “Alien: Earth” will span eight episodes, airing on both Hulu and FX.

A Guide to Synths, Cyborgs, and Hybrids in Alien: Earth

Cyborgs

Cyborgs can be described as individuals who have been technologically upgraded to exhibit human-like features, yet harbor mechanical components hidden beneath their surface. Essentially, they represent a fusion of man and machine, deriving advantages from both domains. However, the specific entity behind their development remains undetermined.

In the sci-fi series “Alien: Earth,” Babou Ceesay’s character, Morrow, is one of the few known cyborgs. As the Chief Security Officer aboard the doomed USCSS Maginot, Morrow showcases advanced precision, durability, and strength. Among his upgrades are a hidden blowtorch and blade within his forearm.

Synths

In the universe of Alien, Synths/Synthetics are often recognized as the “artificial life forms with intelligence” that viewers may be most accustomed to. Ian Holm’s character, “Ash,” from the initial Alien movie (who reappeared in Alien: Romulus), is a well-known example of a Synth. These robots usually serve Weyland-Yutani corporation and follow their creator’s orders, regardless of their personal feelings.

In the series “Alien: Earth“, Timothy Olyphant portrays the character Kirsch, one of the main synthetics introduced to viewers. Previously, characters like Bishop (from “Aliens“) and David (from “Prometheus” and others, such as Andy from “Alien: Romulus“, have been significant synthetics in the “Alien” film franchise.

Hybrids

In the science fiction series “Alien: Earth,” a novel addition to the android category is the Hybrids. These innovative creations were born from the minds at the Prodigy Corporation, spearheaded by its founder, Boy Kavalier, or Samuel Blenkin.

Earth, Kavalier uses terminally ill children as test subjects to transition them into adult synthetic bodies, granting them a second chance at life free of illness. One of the first successful hybrids is Wendy (from Sydney Chandler), with other children eventually joining her at the Neverland facility.

Earth. Their capabilities, however, remain largely unexplored.

What About the Robot in Predator: Badlands?

Before the year ends, a fresh addition to the ongoing rivalry between the “Alien” and “Predator” series will be launched, titled “Predator: Badlands,” which serves as a sequel to Dan Trachtenberg’s “Prey.” This exciting film is set to premiere soon.

There’s been a great deal of intrigue surrounding the film Predator: Badlands, especially about Elle Fanning’s character Thia. Yet, a fresh trailer for the upcoming Predator movie reveals Thia captive in a challenging terrain, and her eyes displaying the emblem of the Weyland-Yutani corporation. This could imply that Thia is one of their synthetics – artificial humans without human consciousness, as established in Alien: Earth.

In the latest versions of both Predator and Alien movies, there’s one example among several hidden references suggesting a common universe between them. It’s still uncertain if characters from the Alien: Earth series of androids will appear in future Predator films, but the possibility definitely exists.
