As a huge Timothy Olyphant fan, I was thrilled to hear that FX is bringing Noah Hawley’s fantastic sci-fi series back for a second season! It’s even better news that Hawley himself has signed a new deal with FX – the guy who brought us shows like Fargo and Legion is sticking around, which means we’re in for something really special.
The sci-fi world of Alien is expanding to television with the new series Alien: Earth. Set two years before the iconic 1979 film, the show stars Timothy Olyphant and features a large ensemble cast including Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.
Critics Applaud Alien: Earth With Impressive Rotten Tomatoes Score
With a strong 94% approval rating, critics generally agree that the show successfully expands the world of Alien. It wasn’t a surprise when FX announced Alien: Earth would be back for another season. FX, Disney, and the show’s creator, Noah Hawley, all shared their excitement about the renewal and Hawley’s ongoing work with FX.
FX Chairman John Landgraf expressed excitement about continuing their long-standing relationship with Noah, with whom they’ve collaborated on many of FX’s most successful shows for over ten years. Landgraf praised Noah’s consistently original storytelling and his exceptional talent as a writer, director, and producer. They are eager to begin work on the next season of Alien: Earth and other promising projects currently in the works.
I’ve always known Noah was something special – I saw it firsthand when we worked together on Fargo at FX. He’s created some truly exceptional television since then, and I’m thrilled he’s expanding his relationship with FX, now encompassing all of Disney Entertainment Television. It’s fantastic to see his talent recognized and supported across such a broad platform.
Hawley expressed excitement about the expanded agreement, stating it creates new possibilities throughout Disney Entertainment Television. He highlighted FX’s long-standing support for ambitious, character-focused stories, recalling how they’ve consistently encouraged his creative risks since the beginning with Fargo. He’s thankful to continue developing the Alien: Earth story with the team as they move forward.
