Following the initial announcement of Alien: Isolation 2 in 2024, marked by a post on X (formerly Twitter) during Alien Day, a brief teaser trailer has now been released, giving fans their first look at the eagerly awaited sequel.
The first game, released in 2014, really impressed – and frightened – players with its amazing graphics and incredibly intelligent alien AI. This AI could track you down by sensing your movements, and even react to sounds picked up through your console’s microphone.
Since its initial release, Alien: Isolation has become available on nearly every gaming system, allowing a lot of people to experience it. As a result, fans have been eagerly hoping for a sequel.
Creative Assembly, the developers of the Total War series, recently released a trailer for Alien: Isolation 2 on YouTube. Titled “False Sense of Security,” the trailer captures the feeling of believing you’ve escaped the Xenomorph from the first game.

The trailer seems confusing at first, but even this brief clip of gameplay reveals quite a lot.
The trailer begins with a close-up of large, reinforced doors resembling a remote outpost, similar to the one seen in the movie Aliens. The building looks rundown, with water dripping from the ceiling. An orange warning light on the doors changes to green, and the doors slide open, showing the exterior.
Several details immediately stand out. In the front, there’s some shrubbery, and further back, trees are swaying in the strong wind and rain.

So, last year Disney+ dropped this series called Alien: Earth, and yeah, it’s exactly what it sounds like – the story takes place right here on Earth. Pretty cool to see the Alien universe brought home, you know?
While the presence of trees and plants doesn’t confirm that Alien: Isolation 2 will be set on Earth – it could be a planet made habitable – it’s still a possibility.
The trailer ends with a close-up of an emergency phone, a key element from the original game used to achieve victory.
Okay, so the trailer runs super smoothly at 60 frames per second, and that’s actually a big deal! The game, Alien: Isolation 2, is built using Unreal Engine 5, which can be really demanding, and the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S sometimes have trouble keeping up. It’s cool to see it running so well in the trailer, honestly!
The first Alien: Isolation was praised for running well, and it seems the sequel will too. The original game’s lead programmer, Michael Bailey, is working on this new version, and combined with improvements made to the game engine by Epic, it’s likely to be a smooth experience. Plus, because the original game’s environments were often quite small and contained, there’s a good chance we might even see a version for the next Nintendo Switch.
Creative Assembly had been experimenting with Unreal Engine while developing their cancelled game, Hyenas, so they’ve gained considerable experience with the technology.
All told, Alien: Isolation 2 will no doubt scare us all silly.
