The recent film Predator: Badlands sparked excitement among Alien fans because it featured Weyland-Yutani, a company from the Alien universe. This connection officially confirms that the Alien and Predator films share the same universe, leading viewers to anticipate another crossover. While previous attempts, like Alien vs. Predator and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem, weren’t huge hits, fans are eager to see if a third film could be successful. And for those hoping the Predator-like Yautja might appear in season two of Alien: Earth, the show’s creator, Noah Hawley, has shared some interesting news.
During a recent appearance on the Smartless podcast, Noah Hawley confirmed that a Predator won’t be appearing in the second season of Alien: Earth. He explained that Dan Trachtenberg, the director of Prey and Badlands, is handling the Predator franchise and has a clear vision for it. Hawley and Trachtenberg haven’t discussed any crossovers, so it’s not part of his plans for the FX series. But why is this actually a positive development? We’ll explain.
Alien Vs. Predator Resurrection
Although it would be exciting to include a Predator in the Alien: Earth series, it wouldn’t be the ideal way to first bring these two universes together. Hints of Predators, like those seen in Predator: Badlands, are great for building toward a future crossover. However, a full-blown Predator appearance should be a major event that truly combines both franchises. With that in mind, we’ve come up with an idea for how to make that happen.
Dan Trachtenberg, the director behind the successful film Prey, is the natural choice to lead this long-awaited Alien vs. Predator crossover. But this could be more than just one movie, and Fede Alvarez, director of Alien: Romulus, would be a fantastic choice to direct a follow-up. Having Trachtenberg focus on the Predator side and Alvarez on the Xenomorph side would create the epic two-part crossover this franchise deserves. While no official announcement has been made yet, both Alien and Predator are currently experiencing a creative high point, making now the ideal time to bring these universes together.
