After several leaks, Cold Iron Studios has announced that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will be released this summer on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The recently revealed trailer shows what players can expect: a team of Colonial Marines responding to a Xenomorph outbreak on a dangerous planet. This time around, the team will include a fourth player.
Fans of the original game will be happy to hear that squad sizes are no longer limited to just three players. There’s also a lot to anticipate, including the return of familiar Xenomorphs—and even The Queen—along with a new Specialist class that lets you customize your character with abilities borrowed from other classes.
Each class offers unique tactical options and ways to play, with tools like fire-based weapons, electric ammo, stun batons, and freezing mines. And don’t think you’re safe with a full team, as new Xenomorph enemies are being added, especially in the new Horde maps. These maps will challenge you with increasingly difficult waves of enemies, but offer better rewards for those who survive. The game also supports cross-play at launch, according to IGN.
There’s still a lot to learn, including details about a co-op campaign said to take between 8 and 12 hours to complete. We’re also interested in seeing Annihilation, a new take on the classic Horde Mode, and hope it offers something different from the typical extraction shooter.
