Of all the upcoming superhero projects slated for 2026 – including titles like Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, Supergirl, and Lanterns (which recently released a first trailer) – Spider-Noir is generating the most buzz. With the series set to premiere in less than three months, marketing is now underway. Early looks are promising, showcasing a stylish, film-noir aesthetic inspired by Raymond Chandler, presented primarily in black and white (though a color version will also be available). Beyond the captivating visual style and the return of Nicolas Cage, who previously voiced the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the series appears to be featuring several iconic Spider-Man villains. We’re going to detail all four villains confirmed to appear.
Besides the confirmed villains, there are two others who seem likely to appear. One is a fiery character from the trailer, who is probably Molten Man, though it could potentially be a different version of the Human Torch. The other possible villain is the character played by Abraham Popoola, who has been described as a World War I veteran seeking advancement – a description that’s currently quite vague. Regardless, these four villains are almost certainly going to be featured in the movie, so fans should be prepared!
4) Electro

Joe Massingill is expected to appear only occasionally in the show, which makes sense given his listed role. He doesn’t get much screen time in the preview, like most of the characters, but his abilities are among the most compelling of Spider-Man’s enemies. It’ll be refreshing to see a realistic, street-level take on the character, especially after the over-the-top portrayal in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the somewhat underwhelming version in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
3) Sandman

We’re now focusing on the second villain we’ve encountered before. The next two villains are new to live-action adaptations, which makes them particularly interesting. However, there’s a difference between this new Electro and Sandman. The previous Electro didn’t leave a strong impression in his film, but Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman was a highlight of Spider-Man 3. Still, this villain feels like a good fit for this sci-fi, noir-style story, and Jack Huston’s experience with the gangster world in Boardwalk Empire suggests he’ll be perfect for the role.
2) Silvermane

Silvermane is a villain from the comics who eventually becomes a cyborg. It’s an unusual twist for this show, but anything is possible.
Brendan Gleeson is consistently amazing, and it’s exciting to see him take on a substantial role in a superhero project, especially after his smaller part in the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux. He’s perfectly suited to play a tough, intimidating crime boss, making him a strong contender to be the series’ main villain. However, the next character on this list might actually turn out to be the biggest threat of all.
1) Cat Hardy

The show Sinners features excellent acting across the board, and Li Jun Li truly shines as Grace Chow. She skillfully portrays a complex character, convincingly showing warmth, loyalty, and pain. Li Jun Li is a very talented actress, and Sinners appears to have significantly boosted her visibility and career.
The preview suggests Cat Hardy will be a key character in the new series. She’s a nightclub singer with a dangerous, mysterious side – a classic “femme fatale” fitting the dark, noir atmosphere. She’s connected to Silvermane, and appears to be this universe’s version of the Black Cat, a Spider-Man character who hasn’t had a major role in the films. While Felicity Jones played a version of Felicia Hardy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, she never fully became Black Cat. The trailer doesn’t show Cat Hardy in costume, but it does hint at a fight with Reilly, as he’s seen falling while she appears to be floating in the air. It’s unclear if she has superpowers, and that remains one of the central mysteries of Spider-Noir.
