All Battlefield 6 bugs and known issues — here’s every problem at launch, and all known fixes and workarounds

After a reveal in late July and a hugely popular open beta in August that surpassed Call of Duty’s records, Battlefield 6 — the newest version of the popular multiplayer shooter — is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5.

With the return of familiar Battlefield classes, a huge number of unique gadgets for each class, the most detailed environmental destruction the series has ever seen, and plenty of other improvements, this game is shaping up to be everything fans have been hoping for.

Like many recent big-budget games, Battlefield 6 has had a rocky start, with a number of frustrating bugs and launch problems. While some of these issues are small, others are more serious and are preventing players from being able to play the game properly.

EA and DICE are working to fix these problems quickly. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to learn about the current issues in the game, as well as any available fixes or temporary solutions. This will help you identify and address problems as they happen. You can find a complete list of everything below.

Battlefield 6 — Known bugs, launch issues, and fixes

Battlefield 6 “Game Not Released” error

Some Steam players are experiencing problems downloading or updating Battlefield 6. They’re seeing a message saying the game hasn’t been released yet, even though it has.

If you’re having trouble, first completely close and reopen Steam (go to Steam > Exit in the top left corner). If that doesn’t work, try restarting your internet router or your computer. If the issue continues, you may need to wait for a permanent fix from the developers, or it might resolve on its own.

Battlefield 6 won’t launch

Some players using Windows PCs are experiencing crashes when trying to start Battlefield 6. The game launches briefly, then closes unexpectedly.

To resolve issues with Battlefield 6, first confirm that Secure Boot is enabled in your computer’s settings. If the problem continues, try verifying the game files through Steam or using the Repair option in the EA app. If those steps don’t work, completely uninstall and then reinstall the game. If you’re still experiencing problems after that, you may need to wait for an update from the game developers.

DirectX Error “DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED”

Some players on PC are experiencing a DirectX error in Battlefield 6, specifically a “DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED” message. This usually means the game isn’t detecting their graphics card, or there’s a problem with the graphics drivers installed on their computer.

To fix this problem, first update your graphics card drivers using the software provided by the manufacturer, or by downloading the latest drivers from their website. If updating doesn’t work, you can try reinstalling Battlefield 6 or physically reseating your graphics card (you can find instructions online for doing this safely). If none of those steps help, you’ll need to wait for a game patch to be released.

Stuck in Battlefield 6 queue

Many players are having trouble accessing Battlefield 6 and starting to play because of a queue system. This system was put in place to manage high player numbers and keep the servers stable during the busy launch period.

Unfortunately, the only way to move forward in the queue is to be patient and wait your turn. Restarting the game won’t help and will actually send you to the back of the line!

“Server Disconnected” or “An unidentified error occurred”

Some Battlefield 6 players have been unexpectedly kicked from games with messages like “Server Disconnected” or “An unidentified error occurred.” This forces them to rejoin the game and wait in the server queue again.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a fix for this issue right now other than waiting for the servers for the next Battlefield game to become stable. If you keep getting disconnected, it’s best to try playing another time.

Battlefield 6 “Purchase to Play” or “Content Not Installed” error

Many players are experiencing an issue with Battlefield 6, particularly those using the EA app. The game incorrectly claims they don’t own it or that necessary files are missing, preventing them from playing after launching it.

The developers are aware of this problem and are working on an official fix, which should be available soon. While you wait, a temporary solution is to join a friend’s game or connect through the Battlefield 6 community server browser – this often lets you play without the issue. If that doesn’t work, try restarting the game. If restarting doesn’t help, a full reinstall of the game has worked for many players.

Missing “Road to Battlefield 6” rewards

Some players are reporting a problem with Battlefield 6: cosmetics and skins they earned in the “Road to Battlefield 6” event in Battlefield 2042 aren’t showing up in the new game.

Unfortunately, there’s no immediate fix for this issue other than waiting. Once the servers for Battlefield 6 stabilize and the initial rush subsides, your rewards should appear in your game. If they don’t, the developers will need to release an update to correct the problem.

Here’s a list of all the bugs and problems we’ve found so far, along with how to fix them or work around them. I’ll keep this updated as we discover more.

If you run into an issue not covered here, please let me know in the comments. This will help me update the list and keep other Battlefield 6 players informed as we continue to play after launch.
