Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for the Hell’s Paradise manga. The second season of Hell’s Paradise is coming this month as part of the Winter 2026 anime season. The story centers on Gabimaru, a famously powerful and merciless assassin from Iwagakure. Facing execution, he’s given a chance at freedom: find the legendary Elixir of Life on a dangerous island that’s known for being a death trap. Though reluctant at first, the thought of reuniting with his wife, Yui, motivates him to accept the seemingly impossible mission.
Gabimaru isn’t alone in his quest; the other prisoners are also desperate to find the legendary elixir. The manga, which concluded after 128 chapters divided into four story arcs, constantly presents new obstacles for the characters. Season 2 will cover the second arc, and while each arc is fantastic, some are definitely stronger than others.
4) Island Arc

The story begins with a compelling setup, introducing the main characters and the central mysteries of a remote island. Gabimaru is offered a chance at freedom and a new life with Yui, leading him to accept a perilous mission alongside Yamada Asaemon Sagiri. He’ll face dangerous creatures on the island, as well as compete against other criminals who are all striving for the same pardon – and risking everything to get it.
3) Lord Tensen Arc

The story takes a new turn as Gabimaru and his companions encounter Hōko and Mei, the island’s native inhabitants. They discover the Elixir of Life is real, but protected by the island’s powerful and immortal Lord Tensen and his six companions. While the team begins to face these rulers, another group, sent by the impatient shogun, is already heading to the island.
2) Departure Arc

Many fans consider the ending of Hell’s Paradise to be one of the best in the Shonen genre, and the series’ final arc, “Departure,” solidifies that opinion. Even after defeating Banko, who had merged with Zhu Jin, Gabimaru and his allies still needed to prevent Rein from destroying the people of Japan. Once the mission was complete, the surviving members returned home, where the criminals received pardons and the Shogun faced his just fate. Ultimately, each character found their own version of a happy ending and continued to live fulfilling lives, including Gabimaru, who was finally reunited with his wife.
1) Hōrai Arc

This arc of the story focuses on the major battles against the villains, putting Gabimaru and his allies in a desperate situation. After seeing the incredible strength of Lord Tensen, the remaining criminals and their Yamada Asaemon guardians team up to find the Elixir of Life and escape the island. Unfortunately, a second expedition arrives, creating even more trouble. To make matters worse, one of the island’s leaders, Zhu Jin, uses a massive flower called the Banko – created by combining many people – to try and take complete control.
