While exploring Kairos in Borderlands 4, you might find unsettling but interesting items called Dead Bolts. These are cybernetic implants left behind by the Timekeeper regime, still connected to the bodies of their former owners. Each Dead Bolt reveals the final words of the person who carried it, making each discovery both sad and captivating.
This guide shows you where to find all the Dead Bolt locations in the Hungering Plains. It’s for anyone who wants to collect everything or learn more about the game’s story, and will give you precise directions to each one.
All Hungering Plain Dead Bolt Locations
The Hungering Plains can seem vast and empty, but finding the Dead Bolts isn’t too hard if you know what to look for. They’re always located near a deceased character (a body), and there’s usually something unusual nearby to help you spot them – like overturned vehicles, cages, or other evidence of a struggle. Here’s a guide to help you find them.

Dead Bolt #1 | Near Horace’s Oversight, Hungering Plains
You can find the first Dead Bolt in the Hungering Plains southeast of Horace’s Oversight, roughly in the center of the area. Look for a small path leading uphill – it’s marked on the map. At the top, you’ll see an overturned car partially buried in the ground. The Dead Bolt is located right next to the wrecked car and a deceased character.
Dead Bolt #2 | Near Dominian, Hungering Plains
The second Bolt is far north of the Hungering Plains, close to the area called Dominian. When you reach the northern boundary, look for a house with a cage next to it. The Bolt itself is on the ground, inside the cage, next to another possessed person.
Wrapping Up
We’ve now discussed the Dead Bolts in the Hungering Plains-we’ve found two, and there are more hidden throughout Kairos. Finding each one isn’t just about completing the game; it also adds interesting details to the story and makes exploring Borderlands 4 feel special.
I’m still out there exploring, grabbing everything I can, and it’s amazing how much lore you can find in those Dead Bolts! Seriously, even the quick, sad stories they tell are really cool. If you’re like me and haven’t found all the Dead Bolts in the Howl region yet, I found a guide that shows exactly where they all are – it’s a lifesaver!
