They release so many different designs with each film, and sometimes different theaters have exclusive ones, which means running around to multiple cinemas to get them all! Even when all the theaters have the same designs, they still sell out super fast – it’s crazy how popular they’ve become!

Wow, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is a massive hit! It’s already made over $370 million worldwide and looks like it could hit the billion-dollar mark, just like the first Mario movie. And of course, with a movie this popular, everyone wants the merchandise. AMC’s CEO, Adam Aron, told us that their special Super Mario Galaxy Movie popcorn buckets completely sold out in just a few days – breaking a long-standing record for the fastest sell-out at the chain. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Popcorn Buckets Sell Out (But There’s One You Can Pre-Order Now)

AMC CEO Aron shared on X (formerly Twitter) that they expected high demand for the Super Mario Galaxy Movie popcorn buckets. They ordered over half a million, calling it a large amount of movie merchandise – the biggest order since they stocked up for the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film in October 2023.

I’m absolutely blown away! Apparently, in just the first three days, sales of Super Mario merchandise have already surpassed everything else we’ve sold since Taylor Swift’s concert film last year. As of Friday, we’d already sold about two-thirds of all the Super Mario stuff we had! They’re predicting we’ll be almost completely sold out by this Sunday, and totally out of stock by the middle of next week or definitely by the following weekend. It’s incredible!

Aron’s comments highlight just how popular The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been with audiences, and show that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film performed even better. Several major blockbusters with strong audience appeal have been released since then, including Deadpool & Wolverine (and other Marvel movies), both Wicked films, and Dune: Part Two, but none have reached the same level of success.

For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, AMC offered three unique popcorn buckets. The most elaborate was a collectible Luma bucket with built-in LED lights, available in six colors (pink, orange, yellow, red, green, and blue) for $44.95. They also sold a Bowser-themed mini popcorn bucket that was officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the smallest commercially available popcorn container. This tiny bucket, priced at $10, could only hold about eight pieces of popcorn.

I was so excited when AMC started selling The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Yoshi Popcorn Bucket! It’s this adorable bucket shaped like Yoshi, holding an egg that actually holds the popcorn – it was a must-have for any fan. It originally cost $49.95 and sold out quickly, but thankfully, there’s still a chance to get one! AMC is taking pre-orders for another batch on their website, which is amazing news for those of us who missed out the first time. The only catch is you’ll have to wait until August for delivery.
