An Iconic ‘90s Nickelodeon Movie Just Joined Tubi (But It’s Long-Awaited Sequel Is Missing)

Everyone remembers Nickelodeon’s amazing run in the 1990s! The channel launched hugely popular cartoons like Rugrats and Doug, as well as innovative live-action shows and game shows such as Clarissa Explains It All and Legends of the Hidden Temple. They even made movies that many kids grew up with. Luckily, it’s now easier than ever to rewatch these classics, and one of the best ‘90s Nickelodeon movies is now available on a free streaming service.

For anyone feeling nostalgic for the ’90s, the classic comedy Good Burger – Nickelodeon’s second movie after Harriet the Spy – is now available to stream for free on Tubi. The film started as a sketch on the show All That. While a new sequel, Good Burger 2, came out in 2023, it’s not yet available on the streaming service.

If you’re not familiar with it, or just need a reminder, Good Burger features Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell as Dexter and Ed, who work at the Good Burger fast food restaurant. When a big new burger place called Mondo Burger opens nearby and threatens their business, Dexter and Ed team up to save Good Burger, and they think a special new sauce might be the key.

Good Burger Is One of Nickelodeon’s Best Movies, and It Still Holds Up Today

Good Burger is a classic example of what made Nickelodeon so great in the 1990s. It perfectly captured the network’s silly, energetic, and sometimes over-the-top style, making it a beloved movie for anyone who grew up watching Nick. While critics weren’t impressed (giving it a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), audiences loved it (63%). The movie embraced the raw, unpolished feel of Nickelodeon before other channels became overly polished, telling a simple, funny story about underdogs where the humor is memorable and the stakes are low.

Good Burger is a totally silly and fun trip down memory lane, and the hilarious chemistry between Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell is what makes the movie so enjoyable. It’s full of over-the-top slapstick, like the exploding kitchen, and memorable lines, such as Ed’s famous greeting. The movie really nails the 1990s vibe with its bright orange and green colors and the unique look of the Good Burger diner – a little rundown, but full of energy. It’s just a laugh-out-loud good time.

Even though it came out decades ago, Good Burger is still a beloved Nickelodeon movie for many fans – it’s just as enjoyable now as it was when it first came out. While critics had mixed opinions, the movie has become a nostalgic favorite for an entire generation.

Other Comedy Movies Now on Tubi

Tubi added a bunch of funny movies at the beginning of the month, including Good Burger. You can now watch films like Barbie, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, and Mrs. Doubtfire for free, plus family favorites such as Little Rascals, Scooby-Doo, and Stuart Little. The platform has many other great movie options available too!
