An Open World Spaghetti Western Survival Game for PS5? Sign Us the Hell Up Right Now

We’ve always loved Western-themed games, even before titles like Red Dead Redemption became popular and brought the genre into the spotlight.

We always remember GUN on the PlayStation 2 – it’s a fantastic game that doesn’t get enough credit, and it came out a few years before Red Dead Redemption. We know Red Dead Revolver existed, but it felt like a completely different game.

Westlanders looks promising: it’s an open-world survival game in the style of The Forest and Green Hell, but with a Wild West setting.

The catch is we’re not convinced this will ever come out.

The game is expected to enter Early Access in 2026, and its Kickstarter campaign will launch early next year.

It’s been a while since a crowdfunding campaign like this came along, but Ferran Punti, head of The Breach Studios, says it will let his team collaborate closely with players who are enthusiastic and truly care about the game.

The idea definitely sounds interesting! You can play the game alone or with a friend, and your wagon will act as your safe haven while you travel and explore the Wild West.

Eventually, you’ll be able to build camps and houses and “weave your own economic network”.

Besides competing gangs, you’ll also face threats from wild animals, harsh weather, and the risk of getting sick.

This game seems like an interesting blend of survival and management elements, and it’s immediately grabbed our interest.

The game is being developed for PlayStation 5, but it’s currently unknown when or if an early access version will be released, or if it will even be available on the PS5.

We appreciate the project’s big goals, but we need to see some concrete progress before we get too enthusiastic. We’re optimistic it will live up to its potential.
