Andrew Lincoln’s new thriller series that’s perfect for fans of The Walking Dead has become a major new streaming sensation. Lincoln has starred in only a few projects following his leaving the original Walking Dead series. While he returned for The Ones Who Live sequel show, he’s also appeared in the 2020 drama film Penguin Bloom and in “The Mumuring” episode of Cabinet of Curiosities.

Lincoln stars in Coldwater, a British TV series about a man named John who struggles with assertiveness. After witnessing a violent event in a London park and feeling unable to help, he relocates his family to the remote Scottish countryside. There, he encounters Tommy, the enigmatic leader of the town, who is keeping secrets.

Since its debut on Paramount+ in the US, the show Coldwater has quickly become popular, reaching the Top 10 on the streaming platform. As of January 19, 2026, FlixPatrol reports it’s currently the 8th most-watched TV show on Paramount+ in the US, a milestone achieved just two weeks after its release.

Critics generally like the show Coldwater, giving it a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers are a bit more divided, with a 64% audience score. Despite the mixed reactions, Coldwater has proven popular enough in the US to reach the Top 10.

This show feels very different from The Walking Dead. Instead of focusing on action and survival, it’s a mystery with a lot of suspense. The main character, John, isn’t the typical hero like Rick Grimes. He tries to look out for his family, but he struggles with fear and isn’t always able to step up. This weakness becomes a major issue and others quickly realize it.

The show features a captivating mystery. From the beginning, it’s unclear what the relationship between John and Tommy will lead to, and John seems unaware of the bigger picture. This central mystery gradually unravels throughout the six-episode series.

Now that Coldwater has broken into the Top 10 on Paramount+ in the US, it looks like Lincoln’s latest starring role—following The Walking Dead—is starting to gain traction. While it took a couple of episodes to build an audience, the show’s momentum could continue as new episodes are released over the next four weeks.
