Anne Hathaway is coming back to TV in a new series where she plays a woman who survived a serial killer – a killer believed to be even more dangerous than Ted Bundy. Her last big TV role was in the 2022 Apple TV drama, WeCrashed.
Anne Hathaway, who won an Oscar for her performance in Rachel Getting Married, is returning to television with a new true crime drama called Fear Not on Paramount+. The six-part series, written by Bash Doran (formerly of Boardwalk Empire), tells the story of Stephen Morin, a serial killer accused of even more crimes than Ted Bundy. The show focuses on the surprising connection Morin developed with Margy Palm, the last woman he kidnapped.
The kidnapping of Palm started as a typical hostage situation, but unexpectedly evolved into something marked by empathy, prayer, and incredible bravery. Palm remarkably believed Morin could change for the better, and this formed the foundation of a deeply unusual connection. Their bond continued even after Palm’s rescue and lasted until Morin’s execution.
Jane Wiseman, who leads original programming at Paramount+, responded to the announcement with a statement. She complimented Anne Hathaway on her nuanced and believable portrayal of the true story and expressed her excitement about collaborating with the show’s creators. Wiseman also assured audiences they can expect a captivating and well-made series, as seen in the quote below.
We at Paramount+ are constantly searching for compelling and entertaining stories, and we believe this series will deliver. The story is based on real events and told through the personal experience of the main character. Anne’s incredible talent brings a depth and seriousness to the role that’s truly remarkable. We’re excited to be working with Anne, Bash, and the entire team, and we’re confident viewers will be captivated by this limited series.
