Anne Hathaway is a celebrated actress with a successful career filled with highly praised films and performances. But one role remains especially memorable: her work in The Devil Wears Prada.
Anne Hathaway became a major star thanks to the 2006 comedy The Devil Wears Prada, following earlier roles in films like The Princess Diaries, Ella Enchanted, and Brokeback Mountain. She’s since balanced serious dramatic work with romantic comedies and science fiction, appearing in well-known movies such as Les Misérables and The Dark Knight Rises, as well as Interstellar. Now, after years of popularity, a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is finally coming out next month.
Ahead of its re-release, The Devil Wears Prada is coming to both Hulu and Disney+, which isn’t surprising given 20th Century Fox originally distributed the movie. You can start streaming the comedy-drama on both platforms beginning April 1st.
The Devil Wears Prada Is a Cult Classic
The story follows Andy Sachs, a recent college graduate who lands a job as a junior assistant to Miranda Priestly, the demanding editor-in-chief of Runway magazine – a character inspired by Anna Wintour. Though Andy initially wants to be a serious journalist, she quickly becomes immersed in the exciting and fast-paced world of high fashion.
The 2006 movie featured Meryl Streep as the demanding Miranda Priestly – a performance that earned her an Oscar nomination – alongside Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, and Adrian Grenier.
The movie was a huge hit, earning $326.5 million globally on a $35 million production cost. Critics gave it a ‘Fresh’ rating of 75%, and audiences agreed with a score of 76%. Now, after twenty years, a follow-up film is in the works.
The new series begins on May 1st and picks up years after the original movie. Andy returns to Runway magazine as a features editor, which once again brings her into conflict with Miranda. This time, Miranda is struggling to adapt Runway to the changing world of technology and figure out its place in the modern media landscape. Adding to the complexity is Emily, Miranda’s former assistant, who now leads a luxury brand that could be key to Runway’s future.
In addition to Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are returning for the new installment. Joining them are fresh faces like Justin Theroux, Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley, B.J. Novak, Donatella Versace, and several other exciting additions.
Anne Hathaway Has More Projects to Come in 2026
Following The Devil Wears Prada 2, Anne Hathaway is once again starring in a series of well-received movies. This summer, she’ll appear in a historical drama called The Odyssey, reuniting her with director Christopher Nolan. Shortly after that, she’ll be seen in The End of Oak Street.
Anne Hathaway’s upcoming projects include Mother Mary, which will premiere on April 17th, and Verity, coming later this year. She’s also filming Ron Howard’s war drama Alone at Dawn, an adaptation of the novel Yesteryear, and the long-awaited The Princess Diaries 3.
You can now watch The Devil Wears Prada on Hulu and HBO Max. And mark your calendars – The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be in theaters on May 1st.
