Anticipated Horror Sequel Gets Major Update as First Look Revealed

The horror film A Quiet Place burst onto the scene in 2018, quickly becoming a fan and critical favorite. Its unique concept, combined with a touching story about family and strong acting – Emily Blunt even won a SAG Award – made it a huge success, earning over $340 million worldwide on a $17 million budget. The film’s popularity led to a sequel, A Quiet Place Part II in 2021, and a spin-off, A Quiet Place: Day One in 2024. These follow-ups confirmed that the original wasn’t a one-time success, and the series continues to thrive. Now, there’s exciting news about the latest film in the franchise.

John Krasinski, the director of A Quiet Place Part III, has announced that filming has begun. He shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of a clapboard on location, signaling the start of the very first scene. You can see the post below.

Will A Quiet Place Part III Be the End of the Series?

While A Quiet Place Part III is set to release in July 2027, there are currently no plans for any further sequels. Despite the popularity of the first three films, the creators seem to be prioritizing quality over making a lot of movies. Years ago, during promotion for A Quiet Place Part II, John Krasinski explained that he doesn’t want to continue the series just for profit. He’s only interested in making more Quiet Place movies if he has a compelling story to tell.

I’m really curious to see if A Quiet Place Part III will be the final chapter in the core story. Producer Brad Fuller has hinted that might be the intention. He mentioned last year that the filmmakers are aiming to “finish that trilogy,” which suggests this next film is designed to bring the Abbott family’s journey to a close, resolving the plotlines and character development we’ve followed over the past two movies. Hopefully, after everything they’ve endured, they’ll finally find some peace, using what they’ve learned to overcome the creatures and get the closure they deserve. That would certainly be a fitting end for fans like me.

Fuller also mentioned last year that he’d like to see more Quiet Place movies made in the future. Fortunately, the franchise has shown it can succeed even without focusing on the Abbott family. A Quiet Place: Day One told a touching story with a completely new group of characters—Sam, her cat Frodo, and a law student named Eric—and their unexpected friendship. This means that even if A Quiet Place Part III concludes the Abbotts’ story, there’s room for more spin-offs exploring how the alien invasion affected other places. As long as those new installments have a strong and interesting premise, like Day One did, audiences will likely be eager to see them.

While the recent films have been good, some argue that A Quiet Place should end with a potential third installment, especially if it’s also well-received. The longer the series continues, the more likely the original, unique premise will lose its impact. As seen with the Jaws movies, a strong concept can become stale over time. A Quiet Place has benefited from strong sequels, but to avoid becoming just another horror franchise stretched too thin, it might be best to conclude the story now.
