Aphelion Gets New Trailer Showcasing Gameplay, Out This Spring

DON’T NOD just released a new gameplay trailer for their upcoming sci-fi adventure, Aphelion. The 5-minute trailer highlights how the game will play, including scouting areas, moving around, and surviving scary situations. We get a look at both main characters – Ariane and Thomas – in action. Ariane’s gameplay focuses on movement and exploration, while Thomas explores smaller, more contained environments. The trailer also confirmed Aphelion will be released this Spring.

The trailer has some noticeable visual glitches, such as Ariane briefly floating mid-air during a scene. However, the developers at DON’T NOD have acknowledged this, emphasizing that the game is still under development.

The story of Aphelion follows Ariane and Thomas as they explore a newly discovered planet called Persephone, but they become separated during their mission. The trailer showed their attempts to find each other. Ariane searched for Thomas based on his last known location, while he stumbled upon a base built by a previous expedition to the planet.

So, me and my partner have been digging around for clues, and we stumbled upon this seriously weird creature – it’s like a living mess of electromagnetic energy. They called it the Nemesis in an earlier trailer, and it might be connected to what happened to the team that originally built this place. While I was busy inside the base uncovering new secrets, we got a good look at what my teammate, Ariane, is capable of. She’s amazing at platforming – swinging with a grappling hook, exploring caves, and basically scaling anything to get ahead. It looks like she’s really focused on getting stronger and finding her footing on this planet, Persephone.

We first learned about Aphelion in June 2025, with a trailer that revealed the game’s two main characters and the world of Persephone. The trailer also explained the basic story and hinted at connections to the European Space Agency’s Hope 01 research mission.

In October, a new trailer was released that highlighted the danger of the Nemesis. It also showed more of Thomas’s character and how he’s reacting to the difficult situation he and Ariane are facing. The trailer gave us our first look at the game’s stealth mechanics and the challenging environments players will navigate while avoiding the Nemesis.

DON’T NOD has revealed that Ariane and Thomas will play very differently. Ariane’s gameplay will be more action-oriented, while Thomas will focus on solving puzzles and using his intelligence, as he’s limited by his injuries.

DON’T NOD hasn’t announced the exact release date for Aphelion, though it’s planned for release this Spring. They have confirmed the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
