Apple TV’s ‘Neuromancer’ Cast & Character Guide

With the Apple TV+ series Neuromancer on the horizon, fans are eager to learn about the cast and their roles. This adaptation brings William Gibson’s influential 1984 cyberpunk novel, Neuromancer, to life, telling the story of Case, a hacker blackmailed by a powerful AI and a soldier haunted by trauma, into undertaking a dangerous job. Gibson’s book was ahead of its time, popularizing many cyberpunk ideas that feel especially relevant now as AI technology continues to advance quickly.

The first season of Neuromancer, created by Graham Roland and J.D. Dillard, will have 10 episodes on Apple TV+. The show features a fantastic cast from around the world, promising to do justice to—and possibly even surpass—the acclaimed novel it’s based on. Let’s meet the characters and the actors bringing them to life.

Callum Turner as Case

A24

Callum Turner, known for his role in Eternity, will star as Case in the new TV series Neuromancer. Case is a former top hacker now struggling with addiction in a bleak, futuristic Japan. He has a damaged nervous system that cuts him off from the online world and leaves him physically impaired.

Case, a skilled hacker with a failing nervous system, is recruited by Molly, a cyborg assassin, and Armitage, a troubled ex-soldier, for a dangerous heist. He’s promised a medical cure if he can break into Wintermute, an incredibly powerful AI. Case’s job is to free Wintermute from the control of the wealthy and influential Tessier-Ashpool family and allow it to merge with another AI.

Brianna Middleton as Molly Millions

A24/Apple TV+

Brianna Middleton, known for her role in Sharper, is starring in Neuromancer as Molly Millions, a highly skilled and technologically enhanced assassin. Called a “Razorgirl” because of the hidden blades in her nails, Molly is a cyborg mercenary hired to safeguard Case and Armitage. She’s equipped with retractable claws, wears special mirrored sunglasses, and has incredibly fast reflexes. While largely a machine, Molly still possesses a trace of humanity, making her different from other artificial intelligences.

Mark Strong as Armitage

20th Century Fox

Mark Strong, the actor known from Kingsman: The Secret Service, plays Armitage, a mysterious and somewhat dangerous ex-soldier, also known as Colonel Will Corto. Haunted by his experiences in war, Armitage hires Case, a skilled hacker, to help with a daring robbery. He convinces Case he can fix the damage to his nerves, gathers a team, and plans the operation to break into Wintermute. Case and Molly become suspicious of Armitage and secretly investigate him after he asks them to steal a special drive that holds recorded human minds.

Peter Sarsgaard as John Ashpool

Paramount Pictures

I’m really excited about Peter Sarsgaard joining the cast of the Neuromancer adaptation! He’s playing John Ashpool, which is a fascinating role – he’s the ancient head of the incredibly rich and influential Tessier-Ashpool family. Apparently, he’s been frozen in cryogenic sleep for centuries! He basically runs the show at the Freeside Orbital Station, controlling a bunch of powerful AIs, including Wintermute – the one Case and Molly have to break free. It’s a complex character, and I think Sarsgaard will absolutely nail it.

Clémence Poésyas Marie-France Tessier a.k.a. Lady 3Jane

AMC

I’m such a fan of Clémence Poésy, and she’s amazing as Marie-France Tessier in this! She plays the wife of John Ashpool, and she’s basically the head of this powerful family, the Tessier-Ashpools, who are all fighting to control artificial intelligence in the future. Things get really dramatic when she and Ashpool have a falling out, and sadly, it leads to her murder. But before she goes, she tasks her AI ‘twins,’ 3Jane and 8Jean, with continuing her family’s work and legacy. It’s a really cool setup!

Joseph Lee as Hideo

Netflix

Joseph Lee, known for his role in Beef, plays Hideo, a skilled and dangerous ninja tasked with protecting Lady3. She’s on a mission to gain control of Wintermute and other powerful artificial intelligence programs owned by the Tessier-Ashpool corporation.

Emma Laird as Linda Lee

Paramount+

Emma Laird, known for her role in The Brutalist, will portray Linda Lee in the upcoming series Neuromancer. Linda, a 20-year-old friend of Case from their hustling days in Chiba City, once shared a romantic relationship with him. However, their connection became troubled when Case inadvertently led her down a path of drug addiction.

Dane DeHaan as Peter Riviera

EuropaCorps Distribution

Dane DeHaan, known for his role in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, plays Peter Riviera, a troubled criminal and skilled thief who uses holographic projections to commit robberies. Case and Molly’s team encounter Peter in Istanbul and ask him to help them liberate Wintermute from the control of the powerful Tessier-Ashpool family.

Marc Menchaca as Dixie Flatline

Netflix

Marc Menchaca, known for his role in Ozark, plays Dixie Flatline, a digital mentor who guides Case. Dixie was once a famous computer hacker, considered the best around. He’s now stored his mind digitally and uses it to help Case pull off a dangerous heist.

Max Irons as Jean Tessier-Ashpool

Audience/Epix

Max Irons, an English-Irish actor known for his role in Condor, plays Jean Tessier-Ashpool. Jean is the son of Marie-France Tessier and John Ashpool, and after his death, he was cloned. This clone is known as 8Jean, making him the biological brother of 3Jane.

André Robin De Shields as Julius Dean

CBS

André Robin De Shields, known for his role in The Instigators, plays Julius Dean, a 135-year-old who smuggles things and assists Case and Molly in their attempt to free Wintermute from the control of the powerful Tessier-Ashpool family.
