Embark Studios is celebrating the positive reception of ARC Raiders, but unfortunately, this means they’re discontinuing support for the PlayStation 4 version of their earlier game, The Finals.
The team announced that the older version of their shooting game will no longer be playable on PS4 starting March 18, 2026. From that date forward, Embark Studios will be concentrating its efforts on supporting the game on newer consoles.
If you’ve been playing The Finals on PlayStation 4, you can continue where you left off on the PlayStation 5 version using your Embark ID. The game developers expressed their thanks to the PS4 community and invited them to join the action on the newer console.
The official explanation states that supporting PlayStation 4 has become too challenging without sacrificing new features and game modes. Newer game systems have technology that doesn’t work well with the older PS4, and the developers want to ensure everyone has a similar gaming experience, which requires difficult decisions about platform support.
Season 10 of The Finals will focus on improving performance, adding new features, and optimizing the game for current-generation consoles and PCs. The developers have indicated that the PlayStation 4 is no longer powerful enough to support these advancements. They stated their priority is now to provide the best experience on platforms that can fully utilize the game’s latest technology.
Several online games, including The Finals, Genshin Impact, and PUBG, have recently stopped supporting the PlayStation 4. What’s unusual about The Finals is that its PS4 version was only released less than a year ago and will be discontinued in March 2026, meaning it will have been available for just over 16 months.
