Posters and an exclusive backstage video for the production titled “Wicked: For Good” (often referred to as “Wicked 2”) have been unveiled.
The sequel to 2024’s Wicked, titled “Wicked: For Good,” is on its way! Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande will once again play Elphaba Thropp and Glinda Upland respectively. This upcoming movie, directed by Jon M. Chu, is set to hit US theaters in November of this year.
What happens in the Wicked 2 video?
In this backstage look at the making of Wicked 2, stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jimmy Chu share insights about the upcoming second part of the stage adaptation, giving fans who loved the original film a sneak peek at what’s coming next.
In the video, Erivo states, “In Wicked: For Good, they’re venturing into new territories in their lives. I find this even more intriguing because it adds to their strength.” …They acknowledge that the connection they shared in the first film can no longer be recaptured and must adapt to something entirely new…I believe their bond is indestructible, but it faces a significant test as they traverse the distance between them.
Speaking from the perspective of a passionate movie-goer, I must say this upcoming film offers a profound exploration into the complexities of love and the ripple effects of tough decisions. It’s not just about their reunion, but rather an intimate portrayal of their struggle to find unity despite the obstacles fate may throw in their path.

(Note that I’ve made it more informal by using “might want” instead of “can also”, and “fresh” to replace “two new”.)

In addition to the previously announced cast for Wicked 2, Jonathan Bailey joins as Fiyero Tigelaar, Jeff Goldblum becomes the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Marissa Bode takes on the role of Nessarose Thropp, Ethan Slater portrays Boq Woodsman, Michelle Yeoh is Madame Morrible, Bowen Yang is Pfannee, Bronwyn James plays ShenShen, and Sharon D. Clarke lends her voice to Dulcibear.
In the United States, the movie “Wicked” is set to hit theaters on November 21, 2025, and it’s distributed by Universal Pictures.
