Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are reaching the end of the yellow brick road.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who star as Elphaba and Glinda in the upcoming Wicked movie, attended the New York City premiere of Wicked: For Good on November 17th. While on the red carpet, the actresses shared how thankful they are to have finished working on the Wicked story.
Working with the people I love and admire has been an amazing journey,” Ariana shared with TopMob News’ Justin Sylvester. She also expressed her excitement for fans to “finally hear the complete story and see the full development of these women we’ve all grown to care about over the years.”
I’ve been following their journey for nearly five years now, and honestly, it’s so thrilling to see them finally understand everything we’ve known all along! It feels like they’re getting the full story, and it’s incredibly exciting after waiting so long.
Ariana mentioned that she and Cynthia are excited about the future, especially the possibility of a Grammy nomination in 2026 for their collaboration on “Defying Gravity” from the Wicked soundtrack. Cynthia didn’t participate in the interview because she needed to rest her voice.
Ariana was thrilled, saying it was a real honor to be recognized, particularly so long after the first movie came out. She and the team were grateful to share that special moment and receive the acknowledgment.
Ariana Grande, 32, and Cynthia Erivo, 38, weren’t the only stars to impress at the premiere of Wicked: For Good. Jonathan Bailey (Prince Fiyero), Ethan Slater (Boq), Jeff Goldblum (The Wizard), and Bowen Yang (Pfannee) also wowed the crowds with their stunning outfits.
Ariana has said that becoming friends with her “Wicked” castmates has been a highlight of her career. She and Cynthia specifically wanted to build those relationships and make time to hang out together outside of filming.

From the start, we wanted to create something genuine and have a supportive relationship with each other, knowing this would be a huge undertaking,” Ariana explained to NPR. “We anticipated years of incredibly hard work, and we began building that foundation the moment we were cast in the roles.
And Cynthia has echoed that sentiment, describing the R.E.M. Beauty founder as a “sister.”

She shared with TopMob News that while they were fortunate to have connected through the project, their friendship will last even after it ends. She emphasized that their bond isn’t solely based on their work together.
Although Cynthia is sad that her time with the cast of Wicked: For Good is coming to an end, she’s thrilled to be part of a sequel film that promises to be even more amazing than fans hoped for.
The Tony Award-winning actor told Vanity Fair they’re eager for audiences to see how much the characters have grown and changed since we last saw them. They described it as a significant and emotional journey.
