Ariana Grande Reacts After Fan Incident at Wicked Premiere

Ariana Grande is a sentimental woman. 

Ariana Grande posted a message to her fans in Singapore after a fan broke through security at the premiere of Wicked: For Good on November 13th, leaving her upset.

“Thank you, Singapore,” the 32-year-old captioned a Nov. 14 Instagram post. “We love you.”

I was so excited to share some behind-the-scenes moments from our time promoting the film! I posted a collection of photos showing myself with my incredible co-stars, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, and Michelle Yeoh, enjoying our time in the country. There are pictures of us at the premiere, and I even included some snaps of me wearing two gorgeous, sparkly gowns inspired by my character, Glinda.

I was so relieved to see Ariana share such a sweet message! It came after a scary moment at the movie premiere – a fan actually managed to get past security and ran up to her, wrapping his arm around her and getting really excited. It was definitely a bit frightening to watch, so it’s wonderful to see her responding with kindness.

The whole thing was captured on video and quickly shared online, including how Cynthia instantly ran to help her fellow actress, trying to pull Ariana away from a fan before security could intervene. It only took a few seconds for Cynthia and the security team to remove the fan from the event.

Cynthia and Michelle both offered Ariana support, as she seemed upset, before they walked on along the yellow brick road. Cynthia kept her arm around Ariana, staying close to her side.

The fan, who goes by the social media name Pyjama Man, later announced, “I’ve been released after my arrest.”

The incident was upsetting for the stars of Wicked: For Good, but Ariana wasn’t the only one to share a positive message with the nation. Cynthia also showed there were no lingering negative feelings, sending a kind message of her own.

She shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying, “Singapore, you have our hearts! Thank you for the incredibly warm welcome to your beautiful city.”

She also shared photos of her all-black outfits, inspired by her character Elphaba, that she and Ariana Grande wore throughout their trip. This continued their tradition of dressing like their characters from the movie during promotional events.

Oh my gosh, she’s just incredible! I was absolutely floored when I saw her in that black corset top with the lace skirt – seriously breathtaking! And then, at another event, she completely switched it up with this amazing, shiny black suit… a top and skirt set, of course. She can do no wrong, honestly! Every outfit is a masterpiece.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande hinted at what audiences can expect from the first Wicked movie when they appeared together at the 2024 Oscars in March. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 22nd.

The Games officially began with the Opening Ceremony on July 26th, where Cynthia Erivo wore a stunning, sculptural green gown by Louis Vuitton and Ariana Grande chose a delicate, powder-pink dress by Thom Browne – a look that would have appealed to the timeless style of Audrey Hepburn.
