Okay, so Artdink is bringing some of their older games back, which is awesome! They’re calling it ARTDINK GAME LOG, and basically, they’re updating these classics to work on current systems. The first one, Tail of the Sun, is hitting the Switch and Steam on December 16th in Japan. Then, in 2026, we’re getting Aquanaut’s Holiday on the same platforms. They’ve also hinted that there’s a third game in the works that they’ll announce later, so keep an eye out!
Here is an overview of Tail of the Sun, via its Steam page:
About
Relive the quirky classic originally released on PlayStation! Tail of the Sun is a straightforward 3D action game where you play as a caveman enjoying a primitive existence. Explore an open world, collect nut-shaped treats, and groove to surprisingly modern techno music – it’s a uniquely wild, pure, and simple experience.
Hone Your Beastly Skills! Primitive Life 3D Action
Tail of the Sun is an easy-to-play 3D action game. You play as a guardian spirit guiding a caveman through a rugged, natural world.
First launched on PlayStation in 1994, this game quickly became known for its incredibly unique and unusual style, earning it the label of a truly special, once-in-a-generation title.
The protagonist of this game is a primitive human. Their daily life was driven purely by instinct.
They slept when tired, gathered fallen nuts, hunted animals to satisfy their hunger.
This game recreates that wild, simple existence.
Imagine nuts crafted like traditional Japanese sweets, a vast open landscape, strange objects that look like body parts strewn about, pulsing techno music, and a caveman unexpectedly drifting off to sleep mid-slide…
Experience a wild, pure, and simple life that appeals to your primal instincts.
Pile Up Ivory and Grab the Sun’s Tail!
The goal is to build a tower reaching the sun by stacking “ivory” obtained from hunting mammoths.
Primitive humans have weak legs and little strength, making even hunting small prey a struggle.
I’ve been watching them, and it’s amazing how they get stronger! They just forage for nuts all over the fields and hunt for meat, and slowly but surely, it really builds them up. It’s a simple way of life, but it clearly works!
With this strengthened body, take down even stronger prey and develop your settlement.
Your strength will be passed down to the next generation of primitive people.
One day, when you’re strong and well-equipped, you’ll finally be able to overcome your greatest enemy, the mammoth.
What will happen when the ivory tower reaches the sun?
Witness the next form of evolution.
