Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know Ubisoft is going through some big changes. Basically, they’re shaking things up internally, and unfortunately, that means a few games have been cancelled and others are being pushed back. It’s a bummer, but it sounds like they’re trying to refocus and make sure future games are really solid.
According to a recent report from Insider Gaming, and confirmed by Tom Henderson, the long-anticipated remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag appears to have been cancelled.
The game hasn’t been cancelled, but reports suggest it’s been delayed, potentially by as much as a year from its original release date.
This quotation from Ubisoft’s statement is the source of this:
At the same time, the company is dedicating more development effort to seven games to improve their quality and ensure they deliver lasting value. This also means a new game previously expected in 2026 will now launch in 2027.
Insider Gaming expects that the Black Flag remake is the “unannounced” game being referred to here.
The report, and Tom Henderson on X, indicate the game was originally scheduled to launch on March 19, 2026, fitting within the publisher’s 2026 financial year. However, if delayed to the 2027 financial year, the release could now happen as late as March of next year.
For a while now, there’s been a lot of talk and unofficial information about a new Assassin’s Creed game. Recently, it received an official age rating in Europe under the title Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
After a difficult and lengthy development process, the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been officially cancelled.
Looking forward to the Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake? Let us know what you think in the comments!
