Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag’s Best Character Is Finally Getting the Screen Time He Deserves in Resynced

Ubisoft is planning a lot of upgrades for the upcoming re-release of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, and I’m especially thrilled about one new feature that will make returning to the game as Edward Kenway even more enjoyable.

In the first game, Blackbeard acted as a mentor figure to Edward, an eccentric and legendary pirate who’d already made a name for himself by the time we meet him. He was captivating in every scene he was in.

Honestly, as much as I loved that game on both PlayStation consoles, my biggest frustration was always how little we actually saw of this character. It really bothered a lot of fans – he was so well-written when he was there, but just didn’t get nearly enough screen time, and it became a common complaint!

Good news for Blackbeard fans! Ubisoft has announced that the iconic pirate will appear in a new set of challenging missions designed for players who have reached the end of the game, according to a recent developer blog post.

This new chapter, titled ‘A World Without Gold’ – a nod to Blackbeard’s famous quote, “in a world without gold, we might have been heroes” – features eight separate quests.

The blog post explains that you’ll be able to play through an extended version of Blackbeard’s story, becoming available when you reach the last part of the game.

Okay, so it looks like Ubisoft is really trying to flesh out the story in Black Flag – honestly, I always felt like the original narrative was a bit rushed in places. They’re adding a ton of new cutscenes which should help fill things out and make the whole experience way more immersive.

Resynced aims to give players a deeper understanding of all the important characters, and it’s also adding some new faces, each with unique stories to tell.
