Ubisoft recently announced updates for the Assassin’s Creed series, including news about Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Support for Shadows is entering its final stage, meaning fewer updates will be released. However, Ubisoft promises a few more surprises are still to come. The development teams will now shift their focus to planning the next Assassin’s Creed game.
As we finish up current projects with fewer and smaller updates, we still have a few exciting things planned. Meanwhile, our team is starting to concentrate on future Assassin’s Creed games,” explained Jean Guesdon, head of content at Vantage Studios, in a recent post.
Ubisoft has exciting news for Assassin’s Creed fans while they develop the next big game in the series. They’re updating Assassin’s Creed Unity, first released in 2014 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, to run at a smoother 60 frames per second on current-generation consoles.
The long-awaited remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is officially happening! The company revealed the news with some early concept art and a new logo for the game, now titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, the developer hinted that more information will be shared soon, asking fans to “keep an eye out for updates.”
Guesdon briefly discussed the progress of Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, mentioning that the experienced team at Ubisoft Montreal is carefully developing it. He reiterated that the game will deliver a distinctive and more mature, story-focused Assassin’s Creed experience, taking place during a significant historical period.
Guesdon also mentioned Assassin’s Creed Invictus, describing it as a fresh take on multiplayer for the Assassin’s Creed series. He didn’t share many specifics, but clarified that it’s different from what people have been speculating. The development team is still figuring out how to best involve the community, emphasizing that player feedback is a priority.
As a huge Assassin’s Creed Shadows fan, I’m excited to hear that development is really wrapping up! They’ve been consistently updating the game for a full year after launch, which is amazing. The latest update, from February, added something that sounds simple but actually changes a lot: manual jumping. It means I can jump whenever I want, instead of the game deciding for me. And with how skilled Naoe already is at parkour, this new freedom to jump whenever opens up so many possibilities for reaching new areas and just moving around the world in a much more fluid way. It’s a really cool addition!
The update also included comprehensive statistics for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, covering everything from your damage output to how items impact ability cooldowns.
I’ve been really into Assassin’s Creed Shadows and you can find my full thoughts on the initial release in my review. I also just finished playing through the Claws of Awaji expansion, and I’ve got a review of that too! It’s available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and even the Nintendo Switch 2.
