Now that Toby Wallace has been cast (known for his roles in The Society and Babyteeth), Netflix has revealed more details about its Assassin’s Creed series. Filming is planned to start in Italy in 2026.

The series revolves around a hidden conflict between two groups: one that wants to control humanity’s future, and another that’s determined to protect our freedom. Throughout the story, characters will be involved in important historical events as they fight for the fate of mankind.

What’s the setting for Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed show?

The highly anticipated TV series based on the popular Assassin’s Creed video game is expected to take place in Ancient Rome. Sources at Nexus Point News say the show will delve into a previously unseen era within the Assassin’s Creed universe, and may include real historical characters like Emperor Nero and the philosopher Seneca the Younger.

Wallace will be a main cast member in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed series. Details about the character he’ll play haven’t been revealed yet. Roberto Patino and David Wiener are leading the show as executive producers, alongside Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, Genevieve Jones from Ubisoft Film & Television, and Matt O’Toole.

The popular video game series first launched in 2007 and has since sold over 230 million copies globally. This isn’t the first attempt to bring Assassin’s Creed to life on film; a movie starring Michael Fassbender was released in 2016.
