Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Unity will soon be updated to run at a smooth 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 5.
The new update launches tomorrow, March 5th, 2026, and will enable the game to run at a smooth 60 frames per second when played on a PS5 through backwards compatibility. This continues a trend for the series, as previous titles like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Origins, and Syndicate have also received similar updates.
Many of you have been asking for this, and we’re excited to announce that you can now enjoy a smoother experience playing as Arno and exploring 18th-century Paris on consoles, according to content head Jean Guesdon.
Assassin’s Creed Unity had a rocky start, with many technical issues when it first came out. While those problems have been addressed over time, this PlayStation 5 update will make it run smoother and more reliably than ever before on consoles.
When we first reviewed this game on PS4, it was really tough. We said there was a fantastic game hiding under a ton of technical problems – annoying glitches and crashes that were just super frustrating. But now, 12 years later, it’s going to be way easier to actually enjoy that great game we knew was in there.
