Asus Provided Insight For ROG Xbox Ally, Xbox Ally X Pricing – Xbox President

Following the release of the Asus ROG Ally and ROG Ally X handheld gaming PCs, Xbox president Sarah Bond explained how the prices were determined. The ROG Ally costs $599.99, while the more powerful ROG Ally X is priced at $999.99.

Bond told Variety that setting prices involved several factors, and they consulted with their manufacturing partner, Asus, during the process.

We wanted to give people a variety of choices, and Asus was key to making that happen, since they handle the hardware. Their understanding of the market, desired features, and what customers are willing to pay ultimately determined the final price of the devices, as Bond explained.

As a fan, I found it really interesting what Bond said about the ROG Ally X and Steam Deck. He pointed out that even though the Ally X is pricier than something like the Steam Deck, it didn’t seem to hurt initial sales at all! He also mentioned that when pre-orders opened last month, the demand was just incredible – people were clearly excited to get their hands on it.

We completely sold out on the Xbox Store, and units also went quickly at many other retailers worldwide. I’m very pleased with the positive response to the hardware, which shows we’re offering gamers great value for the price.

She described the strong initial reaction to the ROG Ally and Ally X as proof that their long-held belief is correct: gaming, like other forms of entertainment, should be accessible anywhere, letting you play any game with anyone on any device.

During the same interview, Bond also discussed the future of Xbox. She confirmed Microsoft plans to continue developing gaming hardware, including the next generation of consoles. Microsoft is currently working on the design and early prototypes of this new hardware, which will be powered by a chip developed by AMD.

Bond confirmed they are actively working on future products. They’re currently developing new hardware and have been prototyping and designing it, with a partnership already established with AMD. They saw a chance to offer gamers more options alongside their next-generation hardware, and are committed to responding to the desires of players and creators. They will continue to innovate based on demand.

The Asus ROG Ally and Ally X were released globally last week. The standard Ally features an AMD Ryzen Z2A processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. The more powerful Ally X boasts an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. You can find all the details about these two handheld gaming devices here.
