Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott are going to be parents, but first—they saw a play. 

Just days after announcing they were expecting their first child, stars from Parks and Recreation and Girls were seen together in public for the first time, attending the after-party for the Broadway opening of The Death of a Salesman.

In a photo taken at Katz’s Deli in New York, the two looked very happy, embracing each other. Chris wore a pinstripe shirt, only partially buttoned, with a gray jacket and gold jewelry.

Aubrey highlighted her pregnancy glow with a stylish all-black outfit, including a blazer and layered necklaces.

This sighting happened just two days after Aubrey publicly showed off her baby bump while out walking in New York City. During that outing, the actress, known for her role in My Old Ass, dressed casually in joggers, sunglasses, and a large coat as she walked her dog in Manhattan.

Aubrey, 41, and Chris, 40, recently confirmed they are dating, but they’ve been friends for a while – at least since 2020 when they acted together in the film Black Bear. They later teamed up again on stage in New York City three years later for a production of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.

At the time, the actors shared insight into their working relationship. 

Aubrey described her ideal scene partner as someone who is both engaged and detached, a balance she finds particularly helpful after a difficult year that included her separation from and the passing of her husband, Jeff Baena. She told The New York Times in 2023 that this combination makes for a fun, productive, and comfortable working environment. She enjoys a playful, lighthearted approach where she and her partner can experiment and not be overly serious – a dynamic she considers rare and valuable.

Chris also highlighted what they had in common, saying, “We both embrace being unconventional and aren’t afraid to be ourselves.”

Chris acknowledged their growing friendship and their chemistry on stage, saying, “Our main goal is to entertain the audience, but I especially want to make Aubrey happy.”
