Microsoft is testing a new feature for Windows 11 that will make app updates easier. Called the Update Orchestrator Platform, it lets developers improve how their apps receive updates, but it’s currently an optional tool for them to use.

It includes a helpful new feature: when you try to open a file without a default app or with an unfamiliar file type, Windows will now suggest apps from the Microsoft Store that can open it. This makes it easier to find and install the right app to view your files.
