Okay, so they just dropped a tweet saying “Emergence begins” and “2026” – which is super cryptic, but awesome! Hopefully, we’ll get more details at the Nintendo Direct next month. This new game, E-Day, is a prequel to the Gears series, and it’s the first main game we’ve gotten since Gears 5 back in 2019. It’s set right when the Locust are first attacking Sera. And get this – we get to play as Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago again, with the original actors! It’s going to cover the first few days of the battle in the city of Kalona, and I’m already hyped!

Given the studio is newly formed, some people, including Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, have predicted the game won’t be released until 2030, or even later. However, studio head Hudson responded on Twitter, reassuring fans that the game will come out sooner than that, jokingly adding that he’s not getting any younger.

The recent presentation for Kirby’s Air Ride confirmed there won’t be any downloadable content. In a separate post, Sora Sakurai also announced that the development team will be dissolving soon. There’s a small window for a final update or adjustment, but after that, the game will be finished. This will allow Sakurai to begin work on his next project, which is expected to be a new Super Smash Bros. game.
