Fans of *Avatar: The Last Airbender* and *The Legend of Korra* have a new game to look forward to! Called *Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game*, it’s a fast-paced fighting game currently in development by Gameplay Group International. While it won’t be available until Summer 2026, a trailer has been released offering a sneak peek at the gameplay. You can watch the trailer below.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game’s Steam page reveals it will launch with 12 playable characters, and more will be added over time with seasonal updates. Developers promise top-quality online play with excellent connection speeds and cross-platform multiplayer, letting players compete regardless of their system.
According to the game’s Steam page, *Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game* is a fighting game that captures the essence of bending the elements. It’s designed to be fun for both new and experienced players, offering a classic fighting game feel with innovative movement and combat options. The game prioritizes smooth controls, quick reactions, and a solid online experience, encouraging players to find meaning in every fight. Visually, it features hand-drawn 2D animation, staying true to the style of the original *Avatar* series.
The game is a 2D fighter with beautiful, hand-drawn graphics. Players can choose support characters to customize their fighting style and unlock new special moves. Combat focuses on a dynamic “flow system” and emphasizes skillful movement.
To help players improve their skills, *Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game* will include a Combo Trials mode for learning and practicing character-specific combos. The game will also feature a single-player story campaign that offers a new, original narrative, rather than retelling events from the animated series.
The new trailer, just under a minute long, reveals several characters players will be able to control, such as Aang, Korra, Zuko, Toph, Katara, and Azula. We see glimpses of their powers – including what looks like Aang transforming into the fully realized Avatar – but the trailer doesn’t offer much detail about other gameplay features, like how support characters will function.
The Steam page for *Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game* reveals the minimum PC specs needed to play. You’ll need at least an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 2600 processor, and either an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 570 graphics card. The game also requires 3.5 GB of storage and Windows 7 64-bit. Currently, the amount of RAM needed and the specs for higher graphics settings haven’t been announced.
