While Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora didn’t immediately become a massive hit when it launched on PS5 in December 2023, it’s been gaining more and more positive attention since then. With a significant update and a third expansion planned for later this year, now seems like a great time to try it out.
Okay, so the next big expansion for the game, called ‘From the Ashes’, is dropping on December 19th, 2025 – which is awesome because that’s the same day the new *Avatar: Fire and Ash* movie comes out! We finished up the season pass content with the two DLCs we already got, so this one will be a separate purchase for everyone. They’re also doing a physical copy of the game that includes both the main game *and* the ‘From the Ashes’ expansion, which is cool if you’re just getting into it.
The story of From the Ashes begins right after the first game and follows So’lek, an experienced Na’vi warrior from the Trr’ong clan. After being ambushed and presumed dead by the RDA and a new, dangerous group called the Ash clan, So’lek wakes up to a burning world and discovers his family has been separated.
The upcoming Avatar update for PlayStation 5 will likely arrive on the same date as previously announced. This update adds a third-person gameplay option and a New Game+ mode. To make switching between first-person and third-person feel smooth, Ubisoft has completely revised the animations, controls, sound, and camera.
There’s still time to grab Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora at a huge discount on the PlayStation Store! Until September 24th at midnight, the standard game is only £17.49 / $17.49, and the Ultimate Edition (which includes the first two expansions) is £28.74 / $32.49. Getting it now will have you prepared for the upcoming update and third expansion launching in December.
