Netflix has seen great popularity with the Baki: The Grappler series. Following the announcement of a second part for Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai, they previously brought the world of Baki together with another popular anime, Kengan Ashura, in a crossover battle. Now, Baki and his allies are embarking on their most unusual collaboration yet – a special event with McDonald’s.
A unique collaboration between Baki and McDonald’s in Japan is bringing new sandwiches to the menu, and it features a surprising voice actor: Masako Nozawa, best known as the voice of Goku from Dragon Ball. She previously voiced a spiritual medium in Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai, and now she’s returning as a brand new character named Tatsuta, described as the strongest heroine. Goku is helping to bring this exciting new element to the crossover. You can get a first look at the collaboration and Nozawa’s new character below.

Baki Resurrects The Dead With McDonald’s

The recent McDonald’s promotion featuring Baki and a new female character also includes Sea King Retsu, even though he was killed off in the latest season of the anime. Retsu died in a fight with Muasahi Miyamoto, a legendary samurai, after being a long-running supporting character who had previously survived many battles.
Earlier this year, we at egmr.ru spoke with Baki-Dou director Toshiki Hirano about Retsu’s death and its significance to the series. Hirano explained that while the death is presented more subtly in the original manga, the animation team intentionally made it more emotionally impactful. They used music and carefully planned scenes to heighten the feeling, and were pleased with the audience’s reaction. The team put extra effort into this crucial episode, especially considering it marked the final recording session for Rikiya Koyama, the voice actor for Retsu. They held a special farewell and a themed party to celebrate his contribution.
The Baki and McDonald’s collaboration doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, but it’s likely coming soon. McDonald’s has recently partnered with several popular animated series, including Mobile Suit Gundam, Hello Kitty, KPop Demon Hunters, and One Piece. Hopefully, this unique collaboration will also be available in North America.
