What did James Gunn say about the DCU Batman?
A fan recently asked James Gunn on Threads what fans want most when Batman first appears in the new DC Universe. While the fan specifically wondered about an animated cowl for the character, Gunn shared that several other requests are higher on the list – but one stands out as the most important.
According to Gunn, fans are most interested in seeing a Batman costume that’s blue and grey, with yellow accents around the bat symbol and white eyes. However, he emphasized that these visual elements are secondary to a strong character, a good script, and the actor’s performance.
Currently, very few details are available about the upcoming Batman movie within the DC Universe. Officially announced in 2023 as ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ the film is expected to draw inspiration from Grant Morrison’s famous run of Batman comics. While IT director Andy Muschietti is directing, updates on the project have been scarce.
James Gunn has confirmed that his main focus regarding Batman is on the upcoming sequel, The Batman: Part II, which is being directed by Matt Reeves and stars Robert Pattinson. The film is scheduled for release on October 1, 2027.
