Battlefield 6’s download size has been announced before players can start pre-loading, and it’s good news: it can be adjusted. Game file sizes have grown dramatically over the past ten years. As graphics get better, and games become larger and more detailed, they require more storage space. This has even affected physical copies of games, as not all the data can fit on the disc, meaning players still need to download a significant portion of the game. It’s a complex problem that has resulted in some games being hundreds of gigabytes in size, which can quickly fill up a console’s storage.
Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be a huge game with a lot to offer. The series is returning with a realistic, contemporary military experience, and players will be able to create and share their own content through the Portal mode. Plus, Battlefield 6 is bringing back its single-player campaign, which was missing from Battlefield 2042. EA responded to player requests to include it. Considering the game features large maps, extensive destruction, and many other features, you might expect a massive download size. Fortunately, the file size is surprisingly reasonable.
Battlefield 6 Size Revealed
According to reports from BattlefieldIntel and Drozdek on Twitter, the full PC download for Battlefield 6 is almost 76 GB. This information comes from a screenshot of the EA App, so the file size might be a little different depending on your platform, but that’s a good estimate. Also, it seems you’ll have the option to choose which game components to download. If you aren’t interested in Battlefield 6’s campaign, you’ll likely be able to skip installing it, or uninstall it after playing.
Battlefield 6’s preload begins October 3
The file size is 75.97 GB.

The main game needs 48.88 GB of storage space, and the Battlefield 6 multiplayer component adds another 5 GB, plus an HD texture pack of about 423 MB. If you only plan to play the multiplayer mode, the total size will likely be around 55 GB. There might be a day one update that increases the size a little, but overall, it seems like a manageable size for such a large new game. You can start pre-loading Battlefield 6 to prepare for launch beginning on October 3rd.
ComicBook interviewed Christian Buhl, the game’s technical director, who explained that the team put a lot of effort into optimizing Battlefield 6 for various platforms. They focused on making the game accessible, and it’s likely that keeping the file size manageable was a key priority in that process.
