Great graphics and new features aren’t always what make a game truly enjoyable. Right now, I’m really appreciating the little details in Battlefield 6 – those are the things that are making the difference for me.
I haven’t been playing the game, and you can find my reasons why here. However, now that people are finishing the campaign, it’s being reported that the game asks you to uninstall it to free up storage space, as seen in the X post from CharlieIntel below.
Modern games take up a lot of storage space on consoles and PCs. As a Call of Duty fan, I really hope Treyarch includes a feature to reduce file sizes in the next game, like Black Ops 7, when it comes out.
The single-player campaign for Battlefield 6 is around 15GB in size, which isn’t huge for a modern game. Once players finish the campaign, it would be a good idea to offer them the option to free up that storage space, especially if there isn’t much other content to play at that point.
In contrast, this year’s Call of Duty, the massive Black Ops 6, is taking up a lot of space. Just the campaign alone on PC is almost 90GB – that’s as big as some entire, complete games.

I finished the Black Ops 6 campaign, but I never bothered to uninstall it. I suspect a lot of other players did the same thing. As a result, it sat on my hard drive for months, taking up nearly 90GB of space even though I wasn’t playing it.
I finally removed it when I reinstalled Windows 11 and Call of Duty. That’s when I realized I didn’t even need to install the game’s story mode.
It’s true that Black Ops 7 will have an ending to the campaign and challenges to unlock special camouflage, giving players a reason to keep the game installed. However, not everyone will be interested in those features, so it would be helpful to have an option to easily uninstall the game once they’ve finished playing.
Kudos to EA on this one. A small feature, but one that shows they’re thinking about you.
