Electronic Arts recently celebrated Battlefield 6 as the year’s top-selling shooter. This announcement appears to align with sales data from Circana, where Mat Piscatella, a senior director, confirmed it was the best-selling game in the US so far in 2025. It’s not necessarily a direct comparison to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, but rather a statement based on current sales figures.
Currently, Battlefield 6 is the top-selling game of 2025 on Xbox and PC. On PlayStation, it’s in second place, only behind NBA 2K26. The game also had the highest single-month sales in the US in three years. While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from 2022 still leads overall, Battlefield 6 is the only game to come close to matching its success since then, which is noteworthy.
The game has been incredibly popular, selling over seven million copies in just three days – making it the best-selling title in the entire series, even surpassing Battlefield 1. If you’re curious, you can try it for free from November 25th to December 2nd.
So, everyone’s wondering how it compares to Black Ops 7, which just dropped last week. It’s not really a direct competitor to Battlefield 6, but it definitely put some pressure on Activision’s main shooter. Honestly, the reaction to the game hasn’t been amazing, especially the campaign. Here in the UK, physical sales are way down – 61% lower than Black Ops 6 last year! And on Steam, it didn’t even sell as well as ARC Raiders or Anno 117: Pax Romana in its first week. That’s… not great.
As of today, Battlefield 6 is the top-selling game of 2025. It’s number one on both Xbox and PC charts, and holds the second position on PlayStation, just behind NBA 2K26.

Battlefield 6 had the best single month of sales in the US for any full game in three years. The only game to sell more in a single month was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, which achieved this in October 2022.

Battlefield 6 became the fastest-selling game in the series’ history. In October 2025, it sold more copies than all copies of the previous best-selling game, Battlefield 1, had sold in its entire lifetime.
