Battlefield 6 – The Complete Portal Guide

The Battlefield Portal Builder has been significantly improved since its original version with *Battlefield 6*. While it’s a powerful tool, it can be challenging to learn, especially for those new to creating content.

This Battlefield 6 guide explains how to access the Portal Builder and start creating your own custom game modes and experiences for the community.

Portal Builder Versus Portal SDK Tool

The Portal Builder is a web-based tool you can use on any computer or mobile device. While a mobile version exists, it’s very basic and only allows for minor adjustments to settings, so we don’t recommend using it.

The Portal SDK Tool is a complete map editor that lets you significantly change the game’s maps.

Where To Find The Battlefield 6 Portal Builder

You can find the official website for creating Battlefield content at https://portal.battlefield.com/bf6. After logging in with your EA account, you’ll be able to build and share experiences directly within the game.

First Steps

Start by clicking “Create Something New.” Then, choose “Verified Modes” – it’s all you need to build custom experiences that let players continue earning Rank and completing Assignments as usual.

As a gamer, I’ve learned that picking the right game mode is super important – it basically decides how you win! Things like Breakthrough, Conquest, or Rush all have different goals. Plus, I love being able to customize which maps I play; the map rotation settings let me include my favorites and skip the ones I’m not feeling.

Within Teams, you have control over how many people, teams, and AI bots can participate – you can set limits or exclude bots entirely.

Modifiers

Here, you can customize various game settings, like movement speed, sliding behavior, sprinting, damage levels, and whether to enable unlimited ammunition. Most of these options are straightforward and easy to understand.

Closed Weapons mode lets you experience the traditional Battlefield gameplay where each class is limited to its core weapons, with a few exceptions like pistols.

You can also customize the game by turning off features like fixed weapon positions, damage from allies, automatic health recovery, and many other options.

You can choose to remove vehicles from the map entirely for a strictly foot-soldier experience, or you can modify the game so vehicles don’t need to return to base for ammunition and repairs.

Bots

There are two main ways to use bots in games. In Player-versus-Player (PvP) setups, bots temporarily fill up the server until real players join, making the server look more active. In Player-versus-Environment (PvE) setups, bots stay in the game as opponents for players to defeat throughout the entire match.

Restrictions

You have a lot of control over which classes, weapons, gadgets, and vehicles are allowed in your custom game, letting you tailor the experience to your liking. This is especially useful if you think certain elements in the standard game are too strong or don’t fit the gameplay you’re aiming for.

Testing

Once you’ve saved your community experience setup, you can test it out before making it available to everyone. Just start the game, scroll down to ‘Community’ (located below ‘Multiplayer’ on the lower-left), and choose the ‘My Experiences’ tile. This is where you’ll find all your saved and published experiences, making it easy to manage them.

You can only invite friends to join community experiences that haven’t been publicly released yet if you’re already playing them yourself.

Publication

To get the word out about your community event, you’ll need a compelling title and a detailed description. Also, select an eye-catching thumbnail image from the available options.

After you publish your creation, it might take a little while to show up in the game’s Experience Search for other players. This is because it needs to be checked and approved first.

You can check its status by looking at the labels that appear when you select it. During moderation, you might see labels like ‘pending’ or ‘under review’. After moderation, if any changes are needed, it might show ‘action needed’.

You’ll know your content is live and everyone can see it when the status changes to ‘published’.

Here’s a complete overview of how to build unique community experiences using Portal Builder in *Battlefield 6*.
