Working groups at Battlefield Studios, responsible for creating Battlefield 6, have announced the return of the Battlefield Labs playtest. In a recent community update, these studios have also revealed that they are reopening sign-ups for Battlefield Labs, enabling more players to join the initiative and assist Battlefield Studios in testing diverse features of the upcoming shooter game.
In this new phase at Battlefield Labs, we’ll be examining several aspects for Battlefield 6, such as the Portal and server browser. During the playtest, participants can experience a preliminary version of the Portal through the Community tab. The testing primarily concentrates on enhancing accessibility and improving user interface clarity. Although not all Portal features will be accessible during the playtest, players won’t have an opportunity to experiment with those related to the Custom Community Experience.
In this scenario, the playtest is primarily centered around examining the hosting aspect and exploring methods for utilizing player-owned servers using predefined shortcut commands. The test will also encompass modifying server descriptions, choosing tags, and understanding how other players can access player-owned servers. Essentially, the testing will be divided into two primary areas of focus: Hosting and Customization, as well as Joining and Enjoyment.
In terms of gameplay, the Battlefield Labs playtest serves as a testing ground for evaluating how different types of forces interact in terms of game equilibrium. To achieve this, the playtest will include two new maps: Operation Firestorm and Mirak Valley. These maps encompass a mix of infantry-centric gameplay along with large-scale vehicle combat, referred to as combined arms. During this playtest, Battlefield Studios aim to refine various balance elements such as vehicle damage and health, gadget functionality, and overall balance.
The news arrives following the completion of Battlefield 6‘s two open testing phases. The development teams behind the game have shared insights into the feedback received during these tests and how they plan to address this input prior to the main game’s release. For instance, weapons will undergo a fine-tuning process, with the M87A1 shotgun being adjusted so that it now requires more pellets to achieve a kill.
In simpler terms, the creators discussed strategies for managing player numbers across different game modes in Battlefield 6. For example, Rush is designed for smaller player groups, whereas Breakthrough, supporting up to 64 players (depending on the map), takes over as the large-scale version. High player count versions of Rush can also be experienced through Portal. Furthermore, Battlefield 6 offers lower player count game modes like Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and Squad Deathmatch, which are all designed for 16-player matches.
The much-anticipated game, “Battlefield 6”, is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 10th. In anticipation of its release, Electronic Arts (EA) has initiated a series of updates for “Battlefield 2042”. These updates will introduce fresh content to the game and offer rewards that can be used in the upcoming “Battlefield 6”.
